Trump Says He Would 'Love' to Defund Broadcasters NPR, PBS

Source: Yahoo! News/Bloomberg

(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump said he is in favor of defunding National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting Service, casting the outlets as unfavorable to him and a drain on taxpayer money. “I would love to do that,” Trump said Tuesday at the White House, suggesting that there was no longer a need for the public broadcasters.

“There’s plenty of coverage. It was from a different age, and they spend more money than any other network of its type ever conceived,” he said. “So the kind of money that’s being wasted, and it’s a very biased view.” NPR and PBS have long been targets for Republicans to defund. Lawmakers for years have introduced several bills that would terminate funding for public broadcasters.

Trump’s Federal Communications Commission chairman, Brendan Carr, has also targeted federal funds for the outlets, telling them that their underwriting announcements could violate federal law. Public broadcasters aren’t allowed to air commercials, but are permitted to credit their sponsors.

PBS and NPR receive a small portion of their funding from federal sources, with the radio broadcaster pulling in 1% directly from US government sources.

1. Sesame Street has to be one of the shows that fascists hate the most

What with all the 'teaching', 'promoting acceptance of our differences', 'DEI hires', and its total lack of scary authoritarian/religious characters? Safe bet they blame that show for a lot of 'social ills' (in their depraved minds).

and production had been taken over by HBO (now "Max" ), and was running on there (with delayed release to outlets like PBS), but now that agreement has ended. They claim the past episodes will still be available to stream there until 2027.

likely still burns bright for generations of lying propagandists who favor alternate versions of 'reality' that they construct and disseminate out to their credulous and cretinous hordes.

I'm talking Masterpiece, Create Channel, PBSWorld, Nature, Antiques Road Show, Nova, Secrets of the Dead, the quality of the channels and content, shows, are unsurpassed. All Americans should be watching, it's yours!
I have no money. I support PBS by donating three cars (not all at once, either).
