Congressman Demands Fellow Lawmakers Stand Up To Trump: 'This Is A 5 Alarm F-ing Fire'

Source: HuffPost

Rep. Sean Casten (D-Ill.) expressed frustration Tuesday with his fellow lawmakers – particularly Democrats – who he says are not meeting the moment of the Trump administration rapidly carving out the federal government.

“If you are a Senator right now confirming ANY Trump nominee who will not unambiguously defend their oath to the Constitution even if that means standing up to Trump you are completely misunderstanding the risk of this moment,” he posted on X.

Casten, who serves on the House Financial Services committee, spoke out after the Trump administration announced it was freezing federal funding, immediately throwing agencies and Americans who depend on those funds into chaos.

“The fed. gov’t is ~20% of the US economy, spending money on those things that the private sector cannot provide – roads, security, hunger, etc. To shut that down is to carry out Russia and China’s foreign policy, destroying all that makes America the envy of the world,” Casten wrote.

Even if it's on an inimical platform.
He should be on national news proclaiming that, or even better, getting it into the congressional record as part of a speech.

Why isn't there an instantaneous response to every Mofo-in-Chiefs "executive order"... Pushback on every illegal overreach spelled out in his tomes??? Why aren't Dems in the House + Senate shouting from the rooftops that these acts are immoral, illegal, unConstitutional, divisive to the ideal of a "perfect union", destroying justice, fracturing domestic tranquility, promoting warmongering instead of providing for the common defense, impeding the general welfare, + forsaking the blessings of liberty to ourselves + the posterity of our nation... When is somebody going to stand up to F47???

This is exactly what is happening.
Destroying the US so China and Russia can rise to power.

The US will be a shadow of its former self.

Backwards to prove that they are the good guys, instead they are looking weak and cowardly. I had hoped for better from our party. I fear unless we confront our own party members state by state, with numbers too big for them to ignore, that they will continue to pussy foot down the road to authoritarianism.

Democrats' playbook for Trump 2.0: Tune out the noise and focus on economic issues

If he is stopped now, maga will never go away. They will always say he "would have done better." They. Need. To. Be. Shown. It may take decades to get back to normal. Timing is crucial. It's only been a week. There will be a series of failures from the dumbass. I don't like it anymore than anyone else, but the damage he does is reversible if the majority of the country is behind it.
