Jasmine Crockett, Who Voted 'Present' On Spending Bill, Declares Dems 'Swooping In Like Superman and Super Women'

Source: MEDIAite

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) compared Democrats to “Superman” while predicting Republicans in the House will be in a constant state of “disarray” headed into the new year following the chaos surrounding a spending bill to avoid a government shutdown.

Crockett, who voted “present” on the final approved spending bill, joined MSNBC’s Ali Velshi on Saturday to discuss a government shutdown being avoided at the last minute following President-elect Donald Trump and Elon Musk helping to kill an original spending bill supported by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).

“You guys still can’t get your house in order, not you, but the Republicans can’t get their house in order,” Velshi said. “I was about to say, Ali, don’t put that on us!” Crockett replied. The lawmaker continued:

Democrats are swooping in like Superman and super women to make sure they can take care of the American people, but I just need the American people to have longer memories because, as you stated, this Congress ended on the same note that it began, but for some reason we will not have a Speaker Jeffries on January 3. We knew that these Republicans in their slim majority were unable to get anything done and the crazy part is that Nancy Pelosi had the same slim majority but, guess what, we weren’t always in a state of crises and they are going to go into the 119th [Congress] with an even slimmer majority.

They will not learn that way.
We cannot be Superman and swoop to the rescue every time, preventing the worst possible outcomes.
Give the people what they voted for: chaos, inflation, and hate.
Then they might start to vote FOR their interests, instead of against them.

Let the boat take on some water and have the people ask for our help.

But there is no reason why we should bail them out. There was a negotiated bipartisan agreement and that included things like cancer research for children , and requiring social sites like Twitter to take down evil content. We should have insisted that the agreed bill was the only thing that would be considered.

It sends a terrible message that all President Musk has to do is write a couple of tweets and a carefully negotiated agreement will be turned upside down.

We have to be prepared to let the Republicans fail, even if that means a shutdown. The American people will suffer much more if we continue to roll over than if we draw the line and stick to it. And a shutdown is necessary for Americans to recall all the things that government does for them.

making sure the government didn't shut down --and we still, separately, passed the Kids Cancer bill.

I'd call that a win. With no basis for anyone to claim we were responsible for, or even contributed to, a government shutdown.

Nobody. That's who.

Quietly helping Republicans out of their self-imposed crisis does us no good at all. We are not going to return to power if we don't accept the need to be much more Machiavellian.

MAGAts manage to inflict a disaster in the country that will drive to the country what idiots they are. We need to be clear on who takes responsibility for hare-brained MAGat schemes.

We already saw that in the first 2 years of COVID with MAGats literally dying in their hospital beds about to be intubated and demanding they be given Ivermectin. The cult factor is too strong for many of these people.

I.e. not big fans of Trump - but not enamored of Biden (or Harris), and/or direction of the country - either. If sh*tty conditions (real or perceived) can influence a vote for Trump - the same thing can almost certainly inspire a vote in the other direction.

But only if and when our messaging and news coverage gets better.

And we do have to be cautious which bills we'd oppose. Cut or cut out SS or SSDI or Vet benefits and it will fall on us because the long time 'Truth' has been dems bad on Sec and the military. This is just one of the 40 year old memes we need to kill. Killing these and taking back labels and ideas should be the first and continually underlying ideal. Remember, only Clinton and Third Way democrats could kill general welfare laws. We have to get smarter... and more ruthless.. towards repugs. Leave no stone unturned, bring out every scandal and harp about each constantly. TV loves scandals, so we just might even get more air time the more a united front we put up towards the sex, drugs, and money scandals of repugs
