Trump plans to seize on any mishaps as the ballots are being counted

Trump plans to seize on any mishaps as the ballots are being counted
From CNN's Kaitlan Collins

As Donald Trump is watching the results come in Tuesday night, he is expected to repeat the same playbook he’s used for years: take any simple mishap, whether technological or human error, at the polling sites and exaggerate it to fit his narrative of election fraud.

Already tonight, the former president is claiming there are reports of massive fraud in Philadelphia, though officials there say they do not know what he is talking about and there is no truth to that claim.

But there’s one major difference from 2020. Trump doesn’t have control of the Justice Department or any high-ranking officials to pressure, like he did with Attorney General Bill Barr four years ago. Barr described his efforts in the weeks following the 2020 election as “Whac-A-Mole.” None of the most outlandish fraud claims were ever borne out.

Trump also won’t be watching the race tonight with one of his “worst influences” in 2020, as aides described him then. Rudy Giuliani is not at Mar-a-Lago and was instead expected to be at the convention center.

Pennsylvania officials deny Trump’s cheating claim

Officials associated with both political parties are denying Trump’s claim of “massive cheating” in Philadelphia.

On social media, one of three Philadelphia election board members, Seth Bluestein, a Republican, said there is “absolutely no truth to this allegation. It is yet another example of disinformation.” Voting in the city is “safe and secure,” he said.

Democrat Gov. Josh Shapiro’s Department of State said, “Pennsylvania counties, including Philadelphia, are running a safe and secure election.”

Trump provided no details about the alleged cheating. His spokespeople did not respond to requests for comment about what he meant.

Federal cybersecurity official say there’s no evidence of widespread fraud in Pennsylvania
By ERIC TUCKER

A senior official at the federal cybersecurity agency says no nationwide security problems are threatening the integrity of the elections and is pushing back on claims of fraud in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania.

Cait Conley, a senior adviser to the director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, told reporters tonight that though officials have responded to bomb threats, disinformation and other problems, there are no major incidents with a national-level impact.

Asked about claims of widespread fraud in Pennsylvania being advanced by Trump and some of his supporters, Conley said federal officials had been in close contact with their state and local counterparts across the country and “we see no data or reporting to support these claims.” Multiple Pennsylvania officials, including Gov. Josh Shapiro, have also said they had not seen any signs of cheating and have called the election secure.

Election Deniers Are Out in Full Force. We Went Where They Did
Vast networks of true believers, convinced beyond all reason that the last election was stolen, have spent years preparing to undermine this one. At last, their time has arrived.

Las Vegas — Mindy Robinson has spent four years telling her hundreds of thousands of followers online that the 2020 presidential election was stolen. But just days away from the 2024 vote, she has a unique new tactic to prove it’s getting stolen again: not casting her ballot at all.

“I'm not voting, I want to see if [my ballot] gets counted while I didn't do anything,” Robinson, who desperately wants Trump to win, tells WIRED at a Las Vegas restaurant on Saturday morning. “I want to see it magically show up as counted. It’s the only fucking thing I can do at this point.”

Just miles away, JD Vance and Donald Trump Jr. were at the Whitney Recreation Center, where they urged their supporters to get out and vote.

As Tuesday’s vote looms, the well-funded and lucrative election denial movement that sprung up after former president Donald Trump lost the 2020 election is already calling foul, pushing conspiracies about immigrants voting and harassing election workers.

AP VoteCast: Less than half of voters are very confident about ballot counts
By GLENN GAMBOA

About 4 in 10 voters said they were very confident that their ballots would be accurately counted nationwide, according to AP VoteCast, an expansive survey of more than 115,000 voters in the United States.

About 3 in 4 voters said they were at least somewhat confident, while nearly 1 in 4 were not confident in the ballot counts.

Voters were more confident in the tallies in their individual states, with about half saying they were very confident.

They've been drinking the Kool-Aid so long, and all the propaganda from RW radio is having its effect. Not the effect that the Nazi party wants, boo hoo.

There are always glitches in elections, and considering the sheer number of people and systems involved, those are pretty rare - machines break down, or there aren't enough ballots, etc., but these things are usually sorted pretty fast. In the olden days we just accepted that these predictable, occasional and minor bumps in the road were just that, not evidence of wrongdoing. That was established in 2020 when Trump's 60+ lawsuits crashed and burned. But some people never learn.

If it turns out that way.

Of course if he wins, it will be considered a fair election.

Hopefully he will have lots to complain about.

Besides Harris winning, which will be good for America, I just love to see and hear Trump squirm and disintegrate further!
