Teri Garr, Star of 'Young Frankenstein' and 'Tootsie,' Dies at 79

Source: Variety

Teri Garr, the comic actress and singer who brought her buoyant personality to “Young Frankenstein” and was Oscar-nominated for “Tootsie,” died on Tuesday in Los Angeles after a long battle with MS. She was 79.

An influential performer to comedians including Tina Fey, Garr was a familiar face in dozens of TV shows and films of the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s. The actress revealed in 2002 that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and she suffered an aneurysm in 2006.

After starting her career as a dancer, Garr first gained attention as Inga, the saucy assistant in Mel Brooks’ 1974 “Young Frankenstein,” who greeted Gene Wilder’s Dr. Frederick Frankenstein with the memorable “Vould you like to have a roll in ze hay?”

On “Friends,” she played Phoebe Abbot in three episodes in 1997 and 1998.

I didn't realize her age. She was literally in a billion things.

She will be sorely missed and I know I have not followed her recently to find out what she was doing.

R.I.P. and thank you for all the wonderful acting and characters that were played!

R.I.P., Teri Garr....

Her Niece, Lisa Garr, has a spiritual show called, The Aware Show. It used to be on KPFK, here in Los Angeles (it's a progressive F.M. station, 90.7). It's awesome when I've listened to it but I haven't in quite some time. I'm not sure if it's still on that station.

I, too, fell in love with Inga in YF.

BOOM! BOOM! (Igor requesting entrance at the doors of Frankenstein's castle)

Dr. Frankenstein, marveling at the heavy metal rings: What knockers!

Inga, who thought he was looking at the top of her dress: Oh, vhy sank you, Doktor!

Many years ago when I was a kid , my dad with his new pilots lisence
and I flew from Concord to Ukiah for a fun outdoor weekend of hiking etc.
Well the weather didn't cooperate and it rained the whole weekend .
So we went to the movies and saw Young Frankenstien 3 times over
the 2 days . "it could be worse , It' could be raining" became our positive
mantra from then on .

So losing Terri Garr Today hits really hard .

Seems silly to cry for someone you never met but here I am crying.
