Kamala Harris Breaks Her Own Rally Crowd Record in 24 Hours

Vice President Kamala Harris has reportedly smashed her own rally crowd size record for the second time in just 24 hours. Harris headlined a jam-packed event, attended by around 23,000 people in Clarkston, Georgia, on Thursday night, beating out her campaign's previous attendance record of about 17,000 in Greensboro, North Carolina, last month.
The vice president's record was broken again on Friday night at a star-studded rally at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston. Celebrities in attendance included megastar Beyoncé, whose song "Freedom" has been heavily used by the Harris campaign.
The Harris team said around 30,000 supporters filled the Texas rally, according to multiple reports. Over 1.5 million reportedly registered to attend the rally. The venue has a seating capacity of just over 22,000, although it typically hosts outdoor sporting events and many Harris supporters were standing on the field Friday.
Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung argued in a post to X, formerly Twitter, that the event was really "a Beyonce concert," suggesting that any media coverage of the large crowd would amount to an attempt to "gaslight" those who believe Harris "could never" draw a large crowd.

(893 posts)With Cruz struggling maybe the campaign knows something? Beto laid some amazing foundation throughout the state.
This event had TFG so worried he had to schedule an emergency interview w/Rogan to run interference...

(1,146 posts)Senator Cruz has done just about everything a human being can do to lose his job
Plus Representative Allred beat Senator Cruz badly in their debate. If you would like to watch the drumming Rep. Allred gave the prevaricating Senator, here is the link

Rep. Allred is impressive, all Texan and enormous (extremely well built). He should win. In my humble experience, Texans truly love impressive enormous Texans.
AG Paxton is certainly afraid this year. He has arrested school principals for electioneering in Denton
https://www.texastribune.org/2024/04/07/texas-denton-principals-indictment-electioneering/
and raided the homes of civil rights leaders (one in her late 80s) in the middle of the night purely to intimidate his opposition.

AG Paxton also searched the home of an aide to a democrat running for state house.

Ken Paxton is running around like a fascista chicken that lost his head this year.
His charges against the principals resulted in nolo contendre pleas. His raids of civil rights leaders were condemned by the courts. His raid of the Democratic aide resulted in no charges.

(2,927 posts)The stadium was indeed packed, standing room only! Boy! It was a loooooo-oooong day for this old gal! We stood in line for four and a half hours, in the heat, sweating. It was only 89 degrees, but with the humidity, it felt much hotter. I actually lost 2 pounds, I later learned, and I think I saw one lady with symptoms of a stroke, though water was abundant and free. Even though it was a last minute event, it seemed to be well organized for safety: Ambulances, fire Dept, and mass casualty vehicles were parked all around the perimeter of the building.
Many of the women from Texas who've suffered tragic consequences from the abortion ban here spoke last night. The only live performer was good ol' Willie Nelson who sang Mama, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys, and On the Road Again. He was great, of course. Beyonce's mom, her sister, and she herself spoke, but Beyonce did not perform. Her words were inspiring, unifying, and passionate. I've not necessarily been a big fan of her music, but I am now a big fan of her as a human being who is dedicated to being a force for good.
All the folks here who have such poor opinions of Texas definitely wouldn't have recognized it. A full day of standing on our feet, melting in the heat, with the spectrum of diverse human beings were there to support Colin Allred and Kamala Harris demonstrates that Texas really can deliver votes for progressives if we can effectively address the gerrymandering.
I didn't get back home until 1:35 a.m. and I have to volunteer in the local Dem party office this morning. I'm tired as hell, but so glad I went, if not only to support our superb candidates, but to see for myself, the huge support they have in our state. They made a wise choice to have such an event in Texas.

I hope the Dems stop them in time.
