WASHINGTON The top Republican on a key House subcommittee threatened to issue a subpoena to the Biden administration Thursday as her panel probes whether the federal government is attempting to limit information being shared on social media platforms ahead of November's elections.
Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., chair of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology and Government Innovation, is seeking communications between the administration and social media companies, like Facebook-owner Meta.
The subpoena threat, shared first with NBC News, comes after Mace requested that information in September and the administration did not respond. In a letter to the White House, obtained by NBC News, Mace wrote that it is the responsibility of the administration to be transparent about their interactions with social media companies before the election, so voters are aware of what steps the government may be taking to limit the flow of certain types of information.
The Biden-Harris Administration has advertised its willingness to manipulate the content of social media sites, Mace wrote, pointing to the administrations 2021 admission that it worked with social media companies to flag misinformation on their platforms, including related to Covid-19.

I'm so sick of disinformation and having any moron counter scientific facts with nonsense, I'd vote to give government the power to curb those 'first Amendment' rights.

(6,364 posts)Waaah!! They won't print our lies because they are lies! Unfair! Biased media! The whole thing is rigged!
STFD and STFU!!* You are angry because they won't be a party to your lies and obfuscationsl You are angry because you have nothing but lies and you can't handle the fact that you know you have nothing of merit and you refuse to actually be decent human beings.
Go shovel sand, little rethug creature. Your party is an affront to humanity and your candidate is a spoiled child who thinks he is a dictator.
You all will lose before this is all over. No one will ever trust a rethug again. No one will dare elect a rethug again.
(BTW, I am taking bets on whether or not we see some kind of 're-branding' from those idiots when they suffer the losses they are about to suffer. Slimy corporate thinking seems to believe that this equates a 'clean slate'. They actually think we are that stupid as to see a new flashy label and decide that they must be all better now and we can trust them again. You watch.)

(294 posts)must be showing her losing. So, rather than propose policies that would be good for the average American she goes for the distraction. Typical conservative. No dialog, discussion or debate. It's sad what the conservatives have done to this country. They should self-deport.
