Trump sways and bops to music for 39 minutes in bizarre town hall episode
The scene comes as Vice President Kamala Harris has called Trump, 78, unstable and called into question his mental acuity.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/DGZ2G0jGnhk

On Oct. 14, former president Donald Trump had to cut a town hall short in Oaks, Pa., but remained onstage for a half hour swaying to the background music. (Video: Alisa Shodiyev Kaff/The Washington Post, Photo: Jabin Botsford/The Washington Post)

By Marianne LeVine
Updated October 15, 2024 at 1:08 a.m. EDT Published October 14, 2024 at 11:26 p.m. EDT

OAKS, Pa. -- The town hall, moderated by South Dakota Gov. Kristi L. Noem (R), began with questions from preselected attendees for the former president. Donald Trump offered meandering answers for how he would address housing affordability and help small businesses. But it took a sudden turn after two attendees required medical attention.

And so Trump, after jokingly asking the crowd whether "anybody else would like to faint," took a different approach. ... "Let's not do any more questions. Let's just listen to music. Let's make it into a music. Who the hell wants to hear questions, right?" he said. ... He played nine tracks. He danced. He shook hands with people onstage. He pointed to the crowd. Noem stood beside him, nodding with her hands clasped. Trump stayed in place onstage, slowly moving back and forth. He was done answering questions for the night.

"Total lovefest at the PA townhall! Everyone was so excited they were fainting so @realDonaldTrump turned to music," campaign spokesman Steven Cheung wrote on X. "Nobody wanted to leave and wanted to hear more songs from the famous DJT Spotify playlist!"

{snip}

As Trump stood onstage in his oversize suit and bright red tie, swaying back and forth, it was almost as if he were taking a trip back to the decades past. Trump's decision to cut short the question-and-answer portion of the town hall and instead have the crowd stay to listen to his favorite songs was a somewhat bizarre move, given that the election was only 22 days away. It also comes as Vice President Kamala Harris has called Trump, 78, unstable and called into question his mental acuity.

Sure, Steve.

Ordinarily I don't treat Trump rallies as newsworthy, but this is usually the point where family members start thinking maybe it's time for an intervention.

The headline still uses "bizarre" when I go to the article. This headline might be on the teaser (i.e., clickbait) page.

It is associated with a not so persuasive and pristine history. Better suited for a conspiracy theory discussion.

He has substandard preparation and provisions for his rallies. The people are the least of his concerns.

For the psychopath to love is to hurt. Therefore, he's incapable of compassion and motivated by inflicting pain on others.

They are victims, imo. Idiots but also there for him to abuse. Some people who would literally die for someone who doesn't care if they live or die.

The callousness of the comment is what struck me. The attendees are more things than human in his mind.

I really shouldn't have been surprised. But he just outdoes himself in his debasement.

Crisis actor
...Snip...
In the United States, the term has been used by conspiracy theorists who claim that some mass shootings and other terror events are staged for the advancement of various political objectives.[7] Conspiracy theorists' use of the term is thought to have originated in 2012, when a blog post by former professor and conspiracy theorist James Tracy suggested that the government could have hired an acting agency named Visionbox to help stage the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

I wouldn't be surprised if his campaign team doesn't sit at the planning meetings trying to think up dead musicians who they think won't be able to sue. That's how twisted plus stupid they are.

Click on the part of the page that tells you that you have to sign in to get the gift article, and it will disintegrate before your eyes, leaving you just the article. Click "done" at the top of the page.

I was able to access the article and video without having to sign in.

Seriously, the speed with which his derangement has worsened as the year has progressed is alarming. My former roommate had a rapid descent into la-la land himself back in '20, fine in May and incoherent in September. And dead by December. DJT seems to me (an uneducated layman, to be sure) to be in much the same case.

Of course his handlers and the voters don't care. So long as they can prop him up enough to get the votes, they'll ignore things like this. But I cannot believe they don't have some plan to retire him suddenly if he actually wins this thing.

his kids and other family members obviously don't care enough about him to risk an intervention with him. He'd probably immediately call his lawyer and disinherit everyone involved, they reason. To that family, except maybe Mary Trump, money is more important than blood... unless the blood leads to money.

With hubs having such issues now, and my health going downhill, in some ways, I feel pity for him that there's no one who can take him in hand and do what's right for him... AND the country. His maga cult is just like his family. They're expecting things.. changes to their point of view... a dictatorship where they're on the upper end of the power scale (ha!). They're using him in his condition just as much as his kids are.

Shame on T for not having ever cultivated a sense of responsibility and reason that he could draw on in these last mental days, and absolute Shame on his family for parading him around on stage in his condition. He's a total embarrassment. I at least make sure my hubby is dressed correctly when we go out. And I monitor him and he accepts my help.

SHAME SHAME SHAME on that family.

He plays a recording of "Ave Maria" sung by Pavarotti and pretends to sway, etc. There's only one problem with this ... "Ave Maria" especially when it's sung in Latin, is a Catholic prayer. Only Catholics say or sing this prayer ... also known as the "Hail Mary" in English. Most Evangelicals (as well as other Protestants) hate this prayer as much as they hate Catholics.

I'll bet a lot of the audience were probably offending and steaming that Chump played this music. I wonder how many got up and walked out?
