Biden Breaks From Harris on Ron DeSantis, Praises Him For Doing a 'Great Job' With Hurricanes

Source: Mediaite

President Joe Biden praised Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for doing a “great job” dealing with Hurricanes Helene and Milton on Tuesday, less than 24 hours after Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris criticized him in harsh terms.

On Monday, Harris accused DeSantis of “playing political games” after NBC News reported that he had not been taking her calls ahead of Milton making landfall.
“It is selfish and it is about political gamesmanship instead of doing the job that you took an oath to do,” she submitted.

DeSantis has since responded by professing not to have been aware of Harris’s supposed efforts to reach out to him as well as by asserting that Harris had never played any role in the Biden administration’s efforts to help the Sunshine State prepare for or recover from storms in the past.

“She has no role in this process. I’m in contact with the President of the United States. I’m in contact with the FEMA director, I’m obviously managing all of our state agencies, we’re supporting all our local government,” continued DeSantis. “She’s the first one who’s trying to politicize the storm, and she’s doing that just because of her campaign. I don’t have time for political games. I’ve got people whose lives are on the line, I’ve got people whose homes and possessions are on the line, and we are focused 100% on that mission.”

DeSantis simply reacted to universal blowback for snubbing offers of help from the White House.

DeSantis' dilemma: Should I continue to do what's best for Trump or flip and do what’s best for me? After weighing his options he flipped. What was best for The People was never a direct consideration.

Biden takes the high road and helps all affected states, especially purple ones with asshole governors.

Not much time to split up T and V. Hurry, hurry.

THOUGH, Vance would be in the catbird seat if Trump had ANOTHER (ahem) accident. Makes you wonder, doesn't it. I'd check that weasel's search history (hint, hint) and not just the dossier (PDF)

I'd look at the situation as a difference in perspective. Biden's job as president is to help out a state that seeks help when facing a natural disaster. Harris has 2 roles right now - as VP her job is to do whatever Biden tells her to do - and as a presidential candidate she may have a more nuanced view of the interactions between herself and a random governor.

This particular random governor is pretty nasty in which he claims Harris "has no role in the process". That's false. She has whatever role Biden decides she has. DeSantis just wants to belittle her - he is the one playing political games.

white go go flood boots and tough it out. He obviously has no rescue plans for jails or prisons.

Since everybody is going on their impressions of the situation, my impression is that the Repubs sought to make a false issue of the $750, helicopters, and other stuff that is going on. There is no way that either Joe or Kamala would withhold aid that has been asked for by Governors. Because of the way our country is set up, Governors need to answer when asked if they need help. It's pretty much a forgone conclusion that the Feds through FEMA stand at the ready. It's just unfortunate that certain assholes don't want to ask, and want to come off as self righteous rescuers of the people, during this time of voting.

He identifies Joe as someone who is helping, and this is after someone else said they couldn't get in touch with Joe, even though that one Governor said he had already been offered critical help. In fact, he was offered anything at all that he wanted. But, DeSantis is saying that Kamala hasn't offered help. What does this guy want from her? He admits he spoke to the actual President. "I’m in contact with the President of the United States." This is after he said he wasn't! So, what is she supposed to do? She's gonna do whatever Joe tells her to do. She is not the President but the VP, who plays a different role.

The Repubs can't make up their minds whom they want to blame for a force of nature destroying their states. You see, they're losing the election, and have no hook to place the blame on. It's pretty ludicrous. Which is it, Joe, Kamala, or FEMA? It's none of them. At least that one Gov told the truth, that he had already concluded the Presidential phone call wherein he was offered whatever the state needed in terms of help. When the RW media pressured Joe about Federal response, he told them that he was managing the problem and he was in charge. "It's called a phone." Just helping the brain dead media guy figure it out.

DeSantis looks like a jerk. Those guys stuck in jail are in real peril. And, I think they said it was a jail, not a prison. He could have had the Feds come down and secure them for evacuation. But, he didn't. So, now he thinks he's a big hero. Why Florida elected that guy, I don't know.
