'Uncommitted' group says Trump would be worse for Palestinians

The Uncommitted National Movement a pro-Palestinian political group opposing the Biden administrations support for Israel encouraged its followers to back Vice President Harriss presidential bid over former President Trumps, less than one month ahead of Election Day.
The group stopped short of issuing a formal endorsement of the Democratic nominee, but in a video posted Tuesday on social media, the groups co-founder, Lexi Zeidan, outlined the reasons she thinks Trump would be worse for the groups anti-war agenda than Harris would be.
Zeidan painted the election next month as a binary choice, saying in the video, Who will be elected in November is clear: Its Trump or its Harris.
And we have to orient less towards who is the better candidate and more towards what is the better anti-war approach in building our collective power, Zeidan continued. Its clear [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu will be doing everything in his power to get Trump elected, and we have to do everything in our power to stop him.

(299 posts)Remember that a lot of these folks have relatives and friends in Gaza or the west bank. I think that this a matter of past overreactions from both parties leading to one sides overreaction leading to carnage which eventually leads to another act of carnage from the other side. Without a settlement for both peoples to live peacefully in their own lands it could go on forever.

(1,926 posts)YOU made the claims, it's up to YOU to provide the proof of them.
And your response still doesn't address the claims you made without proof in your original post: " They don't even have relatives in Gaza!!!"

(29,998 posts)The heads of those movements in Michigan are Lebanese!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that's the head of the movement.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdullah_Hammoud
In 2024, Hammoud declined an invitation to meet with Biden campaign officials prior to the 2024 United States presidential election, due to the Biden administration's stance on the Israel-Hamas war. Explaining his decision on X, Hammoud wrote "I will not entertain conversations about elections while we watch a live-streamed genocide backed by our government."[18]
According to The Washington Post, Hammoud was approached by Jill Stein, 2012 and 2016 presidential nominee for the Green Party, to be her running mate for her 2024 presidential campaign. Hammoud, however, would not meet the age requirement by January 20, 2025, the date of the next presidential inauguration as required under the U.S. Constitution.[19]

Another leader is Jewish.
Dean Phillips is also Jewish.
Tlaib is the only Palestinian and her relatives are in the West Bank.
You give me names of the thousands of uncommitted who are Palestinian.
We don't have that many Palestinians in the US.

(1,926 posts)You made a lot of broad, questionable statements in your first post about the protesters, attacking their families, their skin tones, etc.
I'm the furthest thing from a Jill Stein supporter, I think She's a grifter and russian asset, but there's ample proof available that supports that opinion of mine, like the picture of her and other prominent republicans sitting at a dinner table with Putin.
Making claims about people with nothing to back those claims up though, brings up questions about the honesty of the person making those claims.

(29,998 posts)Most of them are not Palestinian, so they don't have relatives in Gaza.
Around here, most of them are Latino. A local Methodist pastor is a white dude.
The young guy I spoke to the other day was white.
Lots of white people are cosplaying with keffiyehs.
I live in a city that's 70% Latino.

(2,517 posts)A lot of the "them-ing" going on within this progressive site with zero expressed empathy has seemed very maga-ish to me. I have friends I just don't want to talk to anymore because the simplistic generalizations they make about people who have every right to be upset and have had much to discuss within their community. Not to mention the gross mischaracterizations.
I suspected all along there would be this moment where a favorable consensus would be reached. But I would never insult someone's judgment while they were grieving.

(23,012 posts)Clearly a net positive. I hope it is widely shared on campuses etc. No doubt some of what it says will bother many Harris supporters. But that is not who this is aimed at
I generally stay away from war related topics since I rarely have anything sensible to contribute (I dont follow wars..a deliberate choice since instead I follow much neglected environmental issues most people ignore..one really only has so much mental energy) and so I try not to inflame passions beyond sympathy re suffering on all sides.
But this is net good.
