Trump election conspiracist Tina Peters sentenced to 9 years in prison by Colorado judge

Source: cnbc

Tina Peters, a former Colorado county clerk who espoused the false conspiracy theory that former President Donald Trump lost the 2020 election due to ballot fraud, was sentenced Thursday to nine years in prison for crimes related to a breach of voting systems in her county.

Peters was immediately taken into custody after the sentencing judge rejected her lawyer’s request that she remain free.

She deserves it.

The former Mesa County clerk was convicted in August of seven criminal counts, including attempt to influence a public servant, conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, violation of duty, and failure to comply with secretary of state requirements.

She was accused of using another person’s security badge to allow someone else to gain access to her county’s election system. The person who used that badge was affiliated with Mike Lindell, the CEO of My Pillow and a leading proponent of the claim that Trump’s defeat for a second term was due to ballot fraud.

This lady is a true nut case who is convinced that her conspiracy theories are correct and cannot conceive that other people do not buy her bullshit

I do not practice criminal law, but I was not aware on the concept that one could avoid prison if they needed a special "magnetic mattress"

She deserves every single day of that 9-year sentence.

Hopefully this will make other County Clerks think twice before screwing with our trusted election system!

Nothing ever happens to him, of course. But those who do his dirty work end up imprisoned and/or disgraced. It's a career ender. But they keep doing it! Amazing.

I think the 9 year sentence is appropriate for this 68 year old defendant. Unfortunately she will carry her "the election was stolen belief " to the grave as prison can not rehab being stupid at least in her case.

She refused to admit being wrong, so NO early release until she admits to being wrong.

The judge had had enough.

Consecutive on several charges, and when she finishes the state sentence, she returns to Mesa County jail for another 15 months. Goodbye, asshole.

FINALLY!

I have been following/posted about this woman. And this was widely posted when they first seized her iPad -

And as a note, Mike Lindell was associated with her as well, including illegally giving her $800K for legal defense.
