House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and a subcommittee chairman on the House Administration Committee announced Tuesday that they would be investigating any "cooperation" between Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis and the former House Jan. 6 committee.
The two GOP lawmakers said the investigation will focus on communications between Willis office and the now-defunct Jan. 6 committee, citing what they said was a letter Willis sent to the panels chairman, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., seeking access to recordings and transcripts of witness interviews and other records in December 2021.
In a letter Tuesday to Willis that described her prosecution of former President Donald Trump as "politically motivated," Jordan, R-Ohio, requested communications between her office and the congressional committee and any documents her office had obtained from the panel.
Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., sent a separate letter to Thompson that asked for communications, as well as detailed lists of all people interviewed or deposed by the committee and copies of any records sent to others. This new information raises questions about Willis and Thompsons commitment to due process, and whether House Rules were violated when the Select Committee failed to properly disclose this material, Loudermilk, who oversees the House Administration subcommittee on oversight, said in a statement.

(4,128 posts)...why isn't it permissible to use J6 testimony, records, et all, by Fani Willis in her prosecution? Even if our Democratically run J6 committee didn't follow to the T all House rules here, that does not preclude her from using all she was given in my mind.
Any lawyers here that can comment on the R's claims? Hey, I know they are grasping at straws here to exonerate Orange Julius and are throwing a spaghetti at the wall but do their claims even make sense?
BumRushDaShow
(169,738 posts)It doesn't. They are just copying terminology they saw used in legitimate investigations carried out by Democrats, where in the GOP's case, they have nothing to form the foundation for what they claim they are doing, but they don't want their lackey supporters to know that.

(11,203 posts)Also, if there was nefarious dissemination of evidence, it would not have been requested in a public letter. Unlike, say, flying down to Mar a Lago to meet privately and discuss possible tactics in when/where/how to counter all evidence against their leader.
Jordan never answered his own subpoena because he is guilty AF.

(29,680 posts)But, never mind.
I'm not an attorney, but I would think Ms. Willis is legally entitled to all evidence for her case.
The Jan 6 committee were doing their jobs. Jordan is not.
