Biden touts job numbers: 'People are coming off the sidelines'

Source: Politico

President Joe Biden touted a solid monthly jobs report Friday, saying the country is in “one of the strongest job-creating periods” in its history while seeking to draw a contrast with the Trump administration.

American employers added 187,000 jobs in August, signaling that the labor market remains resilient even amid high interest rates set by the Federal Reserve as it seeks to tame inflation.

“People are coming off the sidelines, getting back to their workplaces,” Biden said in remarks at the White House.

The unemployment rate ticked up last month, to 3.8 percent from 3.5 percent in July.

Recently, I've had some calls and emails from "headhunters" looking to fill open positions and they came across my resume (I had posted on places like ZipRecruiter, Monster, CareerBuilder and Indeed last year).

Evidently, I was just the person they were looking for to fill these open positions, that probably had been available for a while, given that now the companies were engaging headhunters to help them. Either that
or the responses they did get were not to their liking or didn't meet their 'requirements'.

On some I was invited to formally apply and obtain an interview. Others were more direct. I've been offered several jobs even though I already have one I like.

There are a sizable number of open positions for my field of work and expertise, more for 'adjacent
positions', each offering in the neighborhood of $25 to $35 per hour or even $60,000 to $90,000 per year.
Most of these are full-time permanent positions.

The last time this happened to me, was during the "dot-com bubble" of the 1990s.
