Prince Harry says he warned Twitter CEO of U.S. Capitol riot
Source: Associated Press
LONDON (AP) Britains Prince Harry has sharply attacked the failure of social media companies to challenge hate online, revealing that he warned the chief executive of Twitter ahead of the Jan. 6 Capitol riots that the site was being used to stage political unrest.
Harry made the comments Tuesday in an online panel on misinformation in California. He said he made his concerns known via email to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey the day before the riot in Washington.
Jack and I were emailing each other prior to January 6 where I warned him that his platform was allowing a coup to be staged, Harry said at the RE:WIRED tech forum. That email was sent the day before and then it happened and I havent heard from him since.
Twitter declined to comment on Harrys remarks.

(1,939 posts)1. He's complicit in that he supported the insurrection.
2. He doesn't care about anything but money and his "investors."
3. He's just a complete asshole.
or maybe all three!

when he sees a crime being planned or committed. He can be involved in public affairs. We can choose to pay attention or not.
That said, all of us at DU saw the same thing back then. Big difference, tho we have no access to the CEO of Twitter. Harry Windsor does or did, as apparently hes been ghosted.

It is astounding how a man with zero relevant qualifications is a speaker for an "online panel on misinformation".
Idiotic celebrity-worship, in which we elevate persons such as this to the level of sage, is one of the problems we have.
The insurrectionists were circulating images of the Capitol with a storm cloud over it days before, and one would have to be an utter moron not to have understood the message. The events of that day came as no surprise to anyone who was minimally informed and paying attention. It did not require the singular qualification of having slid out of a monarch's vagina.

Maybe hes given a thought or two to what thats like.

(22,590 posts)How many of us are here every day, expressing our opinions on this, that, and the other thing (like you just did)? Some of us may have qualifications of one sort or another, but most of us don't have PhDs in the subjects we opine about. So what?
Harry's as entitled to have an opinion and express it as anyone else (even you). Nobody has to agree with him, or even listen to him, if they don't want to, including you.
Have a nice day.

As evidenced in every socio-economic field. From homelessness, Domestic Violence, Racism, Drug Addiction, etc. etc. etc. etc.
Don't know why Harry's lifelong personal experience as regards the horrors and damage he personally suffered all of his life by traditional and "social media" disqualifies him your eyes, but I would beg to differ greatly.

(5,125 posts)I applaud Prince Harry for making this announcement, that he warned Twitter CEO of U.S. of the Capitol riot.
You assert that he has "zero relevant qualifications". To do what? Speak up? State what he knew? Use his position to do good? Bring up the fact that he warned Twitter CEO of U.S. of the Capitol riot? And to get that on the frontpages of CNN, NBC, etc., when it had dropped of the radar?
There are several posts on DU that are attacking the Prince Harry as the messenger of information he knows to be very important to the investigation of the attack on the Capitol on January 6th.

(100,133 posts)Its all on the order of how dare they exist and why didn't the French come over and finish them off while they were so busily plying the guillotine. Parasites snatching the bread from the mouths of children. No proper occupation or job, ever (this from Americans who no doubt dont plow the soil themselves). You can hear the Marseillaise playing loudly in the background.
Its weird. Royaltys a dying breed all over the world, but the Brits arent the only ones who maintain the system yet the vitriol is reserved for the Windsors. The smart ones own businesses, make investments, dont noticeably have their boots on the necks of their people
Theres some kind of allowance system from the government that seems to come with being in the inner circle, but those who want some of that have to show up for a pretty full schedule of public appearances, good works, and handshaking, as both Diana and Meghan found out. Harry and Meghan bowed right out of the money and privileges like security guards when they chose to leave the country. What he has is a legacy from his late mother so its a good guess they are way better off than average, but not in the league of Bill Gates. Hence the desire to earn an income of their own.
Im rambling bcs its 1am. Im not a follower of all things Royal I used to know a gal who was and it struck me as kind of a weird obsession but you cant live as long as I have without noticing a thing or two. I wouldt want that life for anything. There is no real privacy and little freedom. As for whether the Brits continue the system or not I think as Americans it is really none of our business, and we have plenty of troubles of our own. I dont think its any better or any worse for the citizens than what weve got going on.

Maybe the Republicans were busy that day counting up all the MONEY Mexico sent them to pay for the FAILED wall?

The 1/6 coup attempt was planned, funded, supported by traitors. May the 1/6 Commission and DOJ set the record straight and send them to their respective "spider holes". I am concerned that there are many Repukes still with high levels of authority. FBI director and AG come to mind first.
