Arizona judge suspends Republican vote 'audit' being conducted by Cyber Ninjas, a Florida company

led by a pro-Trump conspiracy theorist
An Arizona judge has suspended work over the weekend on a Republican-led effort to examine ballots from the 2020 election.
Arizona Democrats had filed a lawsuit on Thursday seeking to halt an audit, dismissing it as a partisan effort to validate false claims of election fraud.
On Friday, Judge Christopher Coury of the Maricopa County Superior Court granted their request for a pause until evidence can be presented at an 11:00 a.m. local time hearing on Monday.
The audit, which began Thursday, is being conducted by a Florida-based firm, Cyber Ninjas, that has never previously audited an election; the company's founder, Doug Logan, also embraced pro-Trump conspiracy theories about voter fraud on his since-deleted Twitter account, the Mirror reported.

So their sole qualification is they've kissed Trump's humongous ass.

(7,715 posts)Bush v. Gore is one of the worst SCOTUS decisions EVER. The majority was so shameless that they said, after giving the Presidency to George W. Bush, the SECOND worst President of all time, that the case could not be cited again.
Well, its wholly erroneous rationale has been cited many times, so let's apply it here: case closed, Joe wins Arizona (again, for the billionth time).

It makes me so happy we don't have to see his fat face on the news. I can't wait till the courts stop these bs claims and actions.

(23,175 posts)I feel that bush and trump were installed, whether I sound like a conspiracy idiot or not. I never felt like 2000, 2004, or 2016 was on the up and up. Am I in a position to prove my off feelings? Am I a poor sport? Well, after all this time, I rarely mention that I think the r's cheated their way in, and while I supported the court cases at the time, I'm not beating a dead horse.
I have a suspicion that r's did cheat in some elections, and knowing that cheating is possible to get away with, are projecting their guilty knowledge on Dems. However, the elections we had that actually got Dems in their office, had huge turnouts compared to the puny efforts of r's

(3,131 posts)They cant change the election results either.
So you do a fake audit to generate fake fraud. Along the way you screw up the integrity of the ballots to prevent anyone being able to prove the audit was fake.
Not that the audit will be useful in court, but they will continue to say the audit proved fraud forever.
Itll work better than it should. Thats why having a disreputable company is not a bad thing. Its also why stopping the fiasco is so important.

I'm for it partly because it would turn out to be a Nothingburger and one more thing to wave in republicans' faces and it would keep the AZ GOP (one of the worst state GOP organizations) busy for a while.

(20,591 posts)I mean they already have the answer they want, now they just have to find a way to support their findings.
I don't have a clue what they expect this will accomplish. Is this just to assuage the Great Pumpkin's shattered ego? Is it to keep the BIG LIE fresh in his cult member's feeble brains, more red meat to fuel their blood lust? A desperate attempt to keep His Assholiness's name in the media
It serves no purpose, and this will push sane people even farther away from Tangerine Idi Amin.
Stupid. Just plain stupid. "The Cyber Ninjas". Now there's an outfit that just screams "confidence".

I always thought there was a point in the spring where all ballots are destroyed to prevent eternal recounting.

(23,696 posts)for 2 years at least. I have a stack of Election Judge packages over here which I get to keep for 2 years after the election. They contain copies of all the tally and result tapes from the machines, the list with the seal numbers and ballot totals at opening and closing and I think one other thing. Two copies go to the Elections Office with the machines and other stuff and the Lead Judge gets the third copy. It is a safeguard against monkey business with anything in the storage bins.
Maybe the statute of limitations on an election challenge is 2 years here

(53,397 posts)The Senate only is spending 150k on this but the Democrats have to put up a million to insure against costs? Pure crapola, and what is to stop this company from monetizing the information they glean from the ballots and signatures since according to the state Senate they are immune from being sued.
