Major conservative paper wallops Trump with brutal editorial blasting his coronavirus debacle

In an absolutely scathing editorial in the conservative Washington Examiner, Executive Editor Philip Klein eviscerated Donald Trump for his handling of the growing coronavirus epidemic saying the actions taken by his administration are proof the president is woefully unprepared to handle a crisis.
Under a blunt headline stating, Coronavirus is exposing Trumps unsuitability to handle a crisis, Klein writes, President Trumps bombastic style has served him well through many stages of his political career, but as the coronavirus spreads rapidly throughout the United States, it is exposing how deeply unsuited he is to deal with a genuine crisis that he cant bluff his way through.

The most stunning part of Trumps press conference came when he said that, despite the recommendation of health officials, he was reluctant to let Americans off of a cruise ship with 21 infected, because it would increase the reported numbers of cases, Klein wrote. He said he would defer to the vice president, and there is now news that the passengers will be let off. Yet it was quite revealing into Trumps thought process that he said, I would rather because I like the numbers being where they are. I dont need to have the numbers double because of one ship. That wasnt our fault, and it wasnt the fault of the people on the ship, either.'
Trump appears to be more concerned with numbers that might make him look bad in the short-term, then he is with actually taking the most prudent measures to save lives over time, he accused before pronouncing sentence: The current crisis is revealing what many critics feared in a potential Trump presidency. He simply has not shown an ability to break out of his typical antics, and treat the moment with the seriousness with which it deserves.

(4,370 posts)Tell me, was this your first fucking clue about his unsuitability? And, in case you hadnt noticed, thats not confined to just crisis management. Its every-fucking-thing that is entailed in occupying the White House!
Correction: the Congressionally-approved winner of the Electoral College results should do a LOT more than merely occupy such an historical landmark. S/he must lead the country. But, that circles back to the unsuitability issue.
We absolutely must end this on November 3rd. In numbers so huge that it becomes the new benchmark for the meaning of the term landslide.

Not content to just cancel their subscription, good Christian folks are all for killing his family and burning down the press building. Goobers in camo are going to be gathering in front of his home, brandishing big guns and burning him in effigy.
Presumably he knew there would be consequences and very little agreement with his valid and we'll founded opinions.

That is totally contrary to what many of us, well at least myself, desires. I want to see him pack it on and give Mr. Cholesterol plenty to work with to chance to send a fat globule to his post-Adderall frontal lobe, and drop him like a stone in a Tim Russert-like face plant.
I'm living the dream.

(6,059 posts)So I wonder how much of his reaction to the outbreak is the usual trump narcissism/incompetence, and how much of it is the fact we're seeing his internal rationalizations and denial exhibited as he is internally freaking the fuck out. I mean obviously both are in play, but I think this is messing with him in a way that, for example, a natural disaster would not.

RT used to be a reasonably newsworthy source until they showed their true claws.
Any Murdoch/Mercer enterprise is immediately suspect.
Of course, they will be burying their sponsors/funders under multiple levels of deceit. That's who they are.

80+ % of ALL media is owned by Republicans. The ONLY reason MSNBC puts up with Rachel, is she brings them TONS of advertising money, and after all, money is better than ANYTHING else in their minds..

(13,003 posts)but more importantly (to Repubs) is protecting the Corporations from losing money.......He doesn't want a complete failure of the economy which could wipe out some industries completely.
Just look at the Airline industry, the Travel and Entertainment Industry, the oil industry to name a few. With all he is lying, covering up, they are still not fooling the public. There definitely will be thousands more corporations that will suffer in the near future.
He has to delay all he can, so that the 1%ers can safely get their money out of the market before they let the market crash.
(THINK OF ALL THE REMAINING 99% OF US COMMON FOLK'S INVESTMENTS AND RETIREMENT FUNDS)
I have been saying for over a year, the final nail in the coffin that will bring the 99% to their knees will be them enacting a stock market crash..........People can hardly have time to think about all they have done and continue to do, or even take time to vote, when we are all forced to 24/7 think only about finding food and shelter for our families.......

(10,749 posts)Yes, the editorial is very critical of Trump.
But, like any conservative source, it cant but lay blame on liberal media and liberals generally for various Pete I ever failings and shortcomings that have nothing to do with the issue at hand. New York Times Op-ed columnists do this all the time. They just cant be critical of Trump without finding a way to lay blame on Democrats and liberals for something else entirely.

a few days back about how the Uber wealthy (who don't already own their own personal jet) are booking travel everywhere by the air charter companies......Across the globe, but also around the U.S. Of course the pilots and workers at the FBO might have it, likewise for the last person(s) who flew on that jet.........or the people that catered the food.........or the people that cleaned the plane

(13,688 posts)be alright. But the average person living paycheck to paycheck is the one I'm worried about. We have already seen accounts of insurance companies refusing to pay for test kits leaving the patient with a hefty bill.

(4,783 posts)As he said "I dont need to have the numbers double because of one ship. That wasnt our fault"
But, beyond this, I am having a problem following the numbers, and am starting to think Trump and his gang are playing with them.
For instance, this weekend the Johns Hopkins grid, which was a great place to follow the spread of the virus throughout the world, wasn't reporting 2 deaths in Florida, one of which was reported in the local Fort Myers New Press on Friday morning. And after the second death, the corrupt governor of Florida stated he hadn't heard of the Florida deaths.
So is the governor, too, afraid of the numbers for their biased political purposes?
This chills my spine.
