GOP scheming to strip just elected Democratic governor of power -- before he's even sworn in: report
Source: RawStory
Gov. Scott Walker failed to win re-election in Wisconsin on Tuesday after narrowly losing to Democratic candidate Tony Evers.
However, the Republican leader of the state Assembly, Speaker Robin Vos, is considering stripping the governors office of power during a lame duck session of the legislature, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel politics and statehouse reporter Patrick Marley reported Wednesday.

Governor-elect Tony Evers camp slammed the proposal.

Vos also claimed that Evers has no mandate for change.

(13,292 posts)The statement that choosing a governor of a different party than the legislature means the voters want only the legislature (i.e.) to have all the power is absolute bullshit, but what else would you expect from the party of Donald J. Trump, who never saw a law he didn't break.

(37,648 posts)OMG. Well, then, legislatures all over the country could take powers from the Governors repeatedly, if they are of a different party. That makes no sense. Separation of powers.

(9,647 posts)I think the legislature passed laws when Walker was elected that made it easier to fire Democrats that were heading the DNR, DHS, etc. They may now try to protect those political appointees so that they can sabotage state government from the inside and leak any dirt.
