Maine House speaker says if legislator broke firearms law, he should resign 'immediately'
Source: Portland Press Herald
House Speaker Sara Gideon said Monday that state Rep. Jeffrey Pierce, R-Dresden, should resign if allegations that he broke state law by tagging game on a firearms hunting permit are true.
The Maine Wardens Service last week confirmed they were investigating Pierce after public game records showed he had used firearms to kill deer, moose and turkey, as recently as 2012 even though he is prohibited under state and federal law from possessing a firearm because of a felony drug trafficking conviction from 1983.
Gideon, D-Freeport, called the allegations against Pierce, a Republican, incredibly serious.
Those of us charged with writing the laws also need to follow them, Gideon said. As a convicted felon, Rep. Pierce is barred from possessing a firearm. If he has broken the law, he should do the right thing and resign from office immediately.

(22,211 posts)Isn't it the Republicans who say we have enough gun laws and should enforce the ones we have? Seems I heard that somewhere. Well, Pierce, they should enforce Maine and federal gun laws by throwing your doughy white ass in jail.

(20,354 posts)The only possible way out for him is if he used a muzzleloader during firearm season, as black powder muzzleloading guns aren't legally firearms per federal law.

(767 posts)I do not think his republican voters will know he broke the law since they all have very tiny brains. This evil person will continue to do his masters bidding and killing. I think this is one of those states (6,500 square miles) which is smaller in size then 3 counties in California. Good luck with finding ethical and moral people who want this guy OUT........
