GOP senator eyes ban on states single-payer systems

Source: The Hill

Republican Sen. John Kennedy (La.) is reportedly eyeing a ban on state single-payer health care systems in the new GOP ObamaCare repeal bill.

"I think a single-payer system is a bad idea," the senator said Monday in comments reported by The Washington Examiner.

"I think if you give a big chunk of money to California they're going to go set up a single-payer system run by the state and then come back and say, 'We don't have enough money, we need more.' I think the only way we are going to solve the healthcare problem in America is through the private sector."

The GOP has once again embarked on a health care push, as Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.) pursue their new legislation to repeal much of ObamaCare by converting funds into block grants to states. The bill, known as Graham-Cassidy, has yet to garner the 50 votes needed for a tie-breaking vote by Vice President Mike Pence.
"I don't think states should have the authority to take money from the American taxpayer and set up a single-payer system," said Kennedy in the Monday comments.

you haven't quite figured out that you are from a taker state, have you? and blue states, which are almost all giver states, are supporting your state. So have you ever stopped to give some thought to the idea that CA, OR, NY, etc. may just get tired of your S(&% and quit giving money to states that keep crapping on them? Just as a reminder, CA, a democratic state, has an economy that is the 7th largest in the world. They can tell you and the rest of your kind to rightly F^&* off and there is not a damn thing you can do about it. They can and will set up their own health care system. And your state will go down the toilet in no time without blue state money...

This from the same state that claimed states have a right to ignore federal desegregation laws. But when it comes to states giving African Americans and the rest of us healthcare, then suddenly the feds are not brown shirts but the incontrovertible authority!

Fuck you Senator Kennedy, you evil piece of shit. I bet you got into politics trading on the coincidence that you have the same name as a beloved President--it probably fooled a lot of rubes in Louisiana into voting for you. You sir, are no John Kennedy.

They love states rights, as long as those states kill their people and use the $$ to give to the rich - like always. Of course, if those states want to actually help their people, well states rights mean not a damn thing in that case.

Is there anything they won't do to hurt our people and economy for their own personal benefit? They are just as craven and evil as Herr Furor.

The reason we need things like Obamacare, SCHIP, Medicaid, public option and single-payer is the for-profit healthcare model is a disaster. No other country in the world does it this way, and there's a reason for that.

Absolutely INCORRECT.

The ONLY way to solve the greed and profit-based healthcare problem in America is through the PUBLIC sector and using the PUBLIC sector's HUGE bargaining power to FORCE reasonable and fair costs for devices, procedures, treatments, and drugs.

This fucking turnipseed should driven out of his district on a tarred and burning rail! These guys are unbelievable. Over and over the same broken record, "the private sector will 'fix it'". Goddamn it! When the fuck did the private sector solve anything except for themselves and their damn directors and investors. The system is corrupt and greedy because they're allowed to run amok and bleed people dry with obscene costs for medications and services. These asshats and their handpicked legislators are nothing but American oligarchs.

It's as if they've been warned off or something. I can't understand how their focus has been so much on single payer that they allowed themselves to be sneaked up on and knocked in the head by this shit. Did they really believe that these assholes were going to give up? For chrissakes! Where the hell are Pelosi and Schumer? Where the hell is Bernie? Are they being held in chains in the Capitol basement?

He is terrified that -- given a fair chance -- a single-payer, State-run
health-care system will SUCCEED !!!

If states like CA or MA or VT formed their own "socialist" health-care
system, he knows it will be better run and have higher satisfaction
than our current private, profit-driven insurance system. It would
smash all of their talking-points and lies about single-payer, public
health-care.
