U.S. flies bombers over Korean peninsula after North Korea missile test
Source: Reuters
SEOUL (Reuters) - The United States flew two B-1B bombers over the Korean peninsula in a show of force after recent North Korean missile tests, the U.S. Air Force said in a statement on Sunday.
North Korea said it conducted another successful test of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on Friday that proved its ability to strike America's mainland, drawing a sharp warning from U.S. President Donald Trump.
The B-1B flight, conducted on Saturday, was in direct response to the missile test and the previous July 3 launch of the "Hwansong-14" rocket, the U.S. statement said. The bombers took off from a U.S. air base in Guam, and were joined by Japanese and South Korean fighter jets during the exercise, according to the statement.
Holy Crap.

Or maybe, the Fail-Safe star, the B-58 Hustler:

Of course, there's always the Cold War standard -- still flying -- the B-52.

Wait a sec, that ain't it:

Nope. How about this one?
Oopsie! Not that one either. It's just a model:

Aha! There we are. Whew! Finally.

I was an acoustical engineer at Boeing for a few years. I did all the sonic testing on the KC-135R, the re-engined US Air Force Stratotanker (AKA the Boeing 707). The group I worked in also did some testing on mods to the B-52 at the time, 1980's. Boeing Military Airplane Company was located in Wichita, KS and shared half a flight line and runways with McConnell Air Force Base, which was directly across the street from Boeing.
You want loud? Try a B-52 some day. Or, CHRIST, a B-1!! Or the beautiful F-4 Falcon fighters.
Living under the flight path of an Air Force Base is informative on such issues. I love those old airframed airplanes, but wish they would not practice night maneuvers or late night touch and goes when I have to be at work early in the morning. I called McConnell AFB more than once to complain. Their touch and goes put them at low altitude directly over my apartment.
ROAR!!!!! Every couple minutes.
B-52s were the worst!
