Related: About this forumDU Members Now Have The Ability To Bookmark Threads
DU was shut down for the SOPA protest today, but we didn't take the day off. Elad has been hard at work coding the Bookmarks functionality, and we are pleased to announce that it is now ready to use.
To bookmark a thread, simply click the "Bookmark this thread" button found at the bottom of any OP.
Once you click the button, it will turn yellow to let you know that the thread has been bookmarked.
If you wish, you can remove the bookmark by clicking the button again.
You can view and manage your bookmarks from your new Bookmarks page which is found by clicking the "My Account" link at the top-right corner of any page and then clicking the "Bookmarks" tab. You can now sort your bookmarks by year, by month, or by forum.
Thanks for your patience while we continue to improve DU!
PS. Before you ask -- we have not imported your bookmarks from DU2. We plan to do this at a later date if it is technically feasible. In the meantime, you can still log in to DU2 to view your old bookmarks.

(18,149 posts)In thread info, wouldn't it be cool to have info like
# times bookmarked (but pls don't tell us by whom)
# times trashed
??
Ok maybe not the last one. I'm on the fence about it so thought I'd throw it out there. But # times bookmarked would be positive and meaningful.
Not to give you more work or anything.

(10,533 posts)They look very Playskool in their present form. They're a bit cartoonish and I feel like I'm likely to keep clicking them by mistake.

(37,883 posts)I use the bookmarks function as a way to mark good topics for student research papers and speeches. I have really missed it. Thank you for restoring it to DU.
