The Tip Jar Fund Drive is almost over...

And it was a big success -- thank you to everyone who contributed!

May is always a tough month for us because April is a big month for expenses -- it's the month that we have to pay a bunch of annual upfront server costs, as well as the DU accountant, since it's tax time. So slotting an extra fund drive in at this time of year is a HUGE help, and we deeply appreciate the support you gave us this week.

We received a number of suggestions for new features in the feature request thread that I put up yesterday. There are some good ideas in there, so we'll be going over these to see which ones are feasible, and at some point in the next few months we'll do a feature update.

As promised, I would like to recognize the DU members that you gave kudos to this week. Since this is the first time we're doing this, there are still a few kinks to work out -- for example, next time we will probably restrict kudos to active DUers only (ie. people who have posted in the last year) since there were two DU members who received kudos -- bvar22 and beam me up scottie -- who I'll mention here, but who have not posted since 2016 and 2017 respectively.

If you're not on this list, don't worry -- the vast majority of DUers aren't -- and as far as I'm concerned, that's nothing to worry about, because to me you are all equally valuable members of the community. But I think it's nice to recognize the DUers who go above and beyond to make DU a great place to be, so without further ado, and in no particular order, here they are:

You may be interested to know that the DUers above have contributed a combined 4,566,388 posts in the time they have all been here

So with that said, I'd like to thank ALL DUers who come here every day and take part in the community, and I'd also like to personally thank everyone on MIRT (past, present, and future) and all the forum Hosts who volunteer to keep DU running smoothly. And finally I'd like to say thank you to the people who gave kudos to Elad and myself. I decided not put us on the list because we're the Admins, but I appreciate it.

The fund drive will continue to run until late tonight, but everything should be back to normal on Saturday morning. Thank you again for making this a great fund drive! Time to put Grovelbot back in his box for another few months.

2. It's not a list of people who gave donations

The fund drive asks you to show your appreciation for DU, but DU wouldn't be the community it is without its members, and so we also wanted to recognize the DUers who YOU think make this community special. As a bonus for contributing during the Tip Jar fund drive, you'll be able to leave "kudos" for another member. This is going to be pretty low-key -- we're not going to send out notifications or leave hearts on people's posts like we do in February. But when I announce the end of the fund drive on Friday, I'll recognize the DU members who received the most kudos, for their contributions to the community.

You should also have received a DU Mail about this after you made your contribution.

I just double checked and found OhioChick -- I complied the list manually from the database so that was an unforced error on my part, sorry about that. I've just added her to the list.

She was having an issue logging in a week or two ago and I was trying to help her with that, but I haven't heard from her since I replied to her last email. It wasn't too long ago though -- I'll follow up with her this week.
