Related: About this forumJust a heads up: Some of you may receive an email from DU today asking you to take a survey -- it's not a scam (update)

Update: Unfortunately we had a last minute failure to launch so this is now scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday) instead of today. Original message:It really is from us. We've put together a brief survey, hosted on DU, to gauge people's reaction to and experience with our redesigned layout, along with a few other questions.
If you receive one of these emails, it will contain a link to the survey. You're absolutely not required to respond, and you can unsubscribe from receiving any further emails by simply clicking the link in the email. If you do that, it's all good and you won't hear from us again.
If you choose to take the survey, it doesn't matter if you're signed in to DU or not. We're not asking for usernames or connecting them to results, so your response will be anonymous even if you are signed in.
If you don't receive an email today, you will likely receive one in future. We're staggering them over a number of weeks so that we can get responses from different groups of DU members, based on certain criteria that we're interested in (post count, join date, etc.).
It's possible that someone who receives the email might share the link with you, in which case you can take the survey. However, we have things going on behind the scenes to ensure that you can't screw things up by taking it multiple times, and it's possible that your responses may not be recorded. So for best results you should wait until "your turn" and follow the link from the email.
If you take part in the survey, your feedback will be much appreciated. But if you don't want to, no problem -- we appreciate you anyway. As always, thanks for being a part of DU!
EG

(35,515 posts)I don't often check the email DU has on file very often. Sometime after I joined DU it became a spam magnet . . . so I only check it occasionally - or when I am expecting email at that address.

(24,583 posts)Q) Are you a member of Democratic Underground?
A) Well, DUH!
Q) Do you like being a member?
A) Beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
Q) How would you qualify your experience as a member?
A) See # 2 above.
Q) Does being a member satisfy your needs to talk with complete strangers from across the globe, get into inane arguments with them over banal subjects so that you start to question your sanity?
A) In spades.
Q) How would you rate the owners/administrators of Democratic Underground?
A) Well, they don't seem to smell too badly.
Q) Of all the prolific posters on DU, who annoys you the most?
A) Me. But I'm not that prolific. Horrific, perhaps.
Q) What improvements to DU would you most like to see?
A). Free pizza Tuesdays. And fix the fucking coffee maker, already.
Q). Thank you for participating in this survey.
A). Your mother was a hamster and your father resembles the naughty bits of a camel.

(22,540 posts)That's one of the reasons I wanted to post a brief announcement about it, since it's the first time we've tried something like this.

(18,641 posts)1. A message in my DU inbox?
Or
2. An actual email to the email address I signed up with?
I'm hoping the answer is 1, because the email account I used when I signed up is so spam-infested that I've all but given up on it. I'm afraid that any message sent there could get lost in the spamalanche very easily.

(7,892 posts)A real survey, intended to discern real people's opinions about a particular thing. It will probably even have some open-ended questions, and will not be simply a fundraising attempt in disguise.
Normally I delete surveys - and the previous paragraph give enough clues to determine why. But I will probably take this one.
