State announces hefty individual insurance rate increases for 2015.
Since that one didn't work, maybe this one will: http://www.sitnews.us/0914News/090614/090614_health_insurance.html

If you cannot afford the premium with or without the subsidy, you may want to talk to the ACA and see what alternatives you have.
You can be granted an exclusion from the mandate if; The lowest-priced coverage available to you, usually the Bronze plan, would cost more than eight percent of your annual household income.
I know that defeats the purpose of getting insurance, but if it fits your category at least you won't be penalized
I am able to select both links. The first link tells balanced story, the second link blames it on the ACA

(4,940 posts)When ACA passed, it went up over 35% for the following year. We are now exploring all possibilities - including a divorce after 35 solid years of marriage!

I think this state announcement is very suspicious. The governor never supported the ACA,so of course he's going to say the rate increases are caused by the ACA. Also, the state could -- like other states -- reject the amount of these proposed increases that are so out of line with what other states' insurers are proposing. If the state doesn't, then blame it, not the ACA.

(4,940 posts)I firmly and strictly blame the repuke governor, and his henchmen (very few women) here in this state that is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Big Oil.
I'm trying again in January - AFTER we deselect Mr. Kochsucker Parnell!

<snip>
Whats really unfortunate is that the state agency has crossed what should be a clear dividing line between governing and campaigning.
The job of the state Division of Insurance, plastered at the top of its website, is clear: The mission of the Division of Insurance is to regulate the insurance industry to protect Alaskan consumers.
Its mission is not to protect the Parnell and Sullivan campaigns with the release of misleading documents long on advocacy and short on analysis.
The gist of the state press release is that Obamacare is evil, responsible for what will be historic rate increases of up to 37 percent next year for some thousands of people in Alaska. The press release does not make it clear that this is not about Alaskans who have coverage through their employers.

Be sure to read all the comments on both articles. It seems like a lot of people are on to this.
