2025 Anchorage municipal election guide: Q&As with candidates for Assembly and school board

Ballots were mailed to voters ahead of the April 1 municipal election, and to help residents weigh their choices, the Anchorage Daily News asked candidates for Anchorage Assembly and school board to explain their views on top issues and how they would approach different challenges.

Voting is conducted by mail in Anchorage, but other options are available to submit ballots, including in-person. More information on how to vote in the municipal election is on available on the city’s election website, which includes an FAQ and a full list of candidates. This year, Anchorage voters can also sign up for automatic updates on the status of their ballot at anchoragevotes.com.

This year, five Assembly seats and two school board seats are up for election. School board seats are elected at-large, so voters across the city will vote for each seat. Assembly candidates will be chosen by voters in their district.

You can read each candidate’s response in the links below.
