Expatriate, living abroad temporarily, or exile?

I recently celebrated 25 years of living in Asia after voluntarily leaving the land of my birth (hometown San Diego) in 1989. After reading all of the accounts of people stating they would leave the U.S. if Trump is elected I decided to try and write a short self-help book for Americans who want to go into exile.

I'd like to talk to any DU members who live abroad who feel they are in a state of permanent or semi-permanent exile. I for one, have no intention of living in the US ever again but I remain American in nationality and culture.

You can reply here or in private pm, thank you in advance.
