Christian Coalition of Alabama president says group will inform voters in 2016
Christian Coalition of Alabama President Randy Brinson pledged this week that the organization would work hard during the 2016 election cycle to inform voters about where candidates stand, both incumbents and challengers.
Brinson said the coalition does not endorse candidates. But he said it would interview candidates, ask tough questions and share the responses with coalition members and the public through its email list and other means.
Brinson, a physician who has led the organization since 2006, said the coalition's board determined earlier this year that a new initiative was needed because of what he said was the ongoing erosion of important values.
"Too many times, Christians are complacent," Brinson said. "They're not active in the political process and they don't vote. We want to make sure they not only vote, but they also know and are aware of where the candidates stand."
