U.S. Senate candidate and Congressman Mo Brooks received the endorsements Wednesday of seven Alabama delegates for Donald Trump, including State Rep. Ed Henry -- the chairman of Trump's state campaign.
The endorsements, which were rolled out at Hoover Tactical Firearms, was part of Brooks' argument that he is the best candidate to advance Trump's agenda. The campaign's main issue has been which candidate is most closely aligned with Trump.
"It becomes very apparent to me .. as to who has the best interest of our country in mind and who is trying to make America great again and wants to stand beside Donald Trump," Henry said as he made his endorsement. "The only individual that has the character to stand on the front line and take a full fight that's required to make this country great again is Mo Brooks."
Bradley Williams, one of the seven Trump delegates at last summer's Republican National Convention who backed Brooks on Wednesday, said that character was a key issue in the race and one of the main reasons he endorsed Brooks. He alluded to incumbent Sen. Luther Strange's accepting the appointment to the Senate seat by then-Gov. Robert Bentley earlier this years as being improper because Strange's office was investigating Bentley.
