Impeachment panel won't hear Bentley's due process concerns

The committee investigating impeachment charges against Gov. Robert Bentley will not meet this week to hear due process concerns raised last week by Ross Garber, a lawyer for the governor's office.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Mike Jones issued a statement today.

"This is a legislative committee, not a courtroom, and that's been my position since the beginning of this process," Jones said.

Garber raised his concerns again today at a State House news conference and proposed new steps that he said would make the proceedings more fair.
