Russia's goals?

Conventional wisdom goes that:

1. Russia just wanted to hurt HRC.

2. Then they saw they could maybe get ToxicDon elected so they ramped it up.

3. Then they saw a way to maybe get the Magnitsky Act overturned so they ramped it up.

4. Et cetera.

But it now seems clearer that their goal was a complete destabilization of the United States. Now that Trump is in there, they are fucking with HIM. I dare say they have found ways to get him to tweet absolutely insane shit, like maybe the Britain First hate videos.

If so, then Trump is both perp and victim, much as HRC is a victim of Russian meddling. Trump's takedown will be a good thing for the US and an act of war against the US.

But Trump probably thought he was exempt from Putin's bad behavior.

And yes Putin wins all the way around...

Absolute worst case scenario, he would have left the US with a divided electorate and a weakened and embattled President Clinton.

When Trump won, his possible outcomes were narrowed even further to even better positive benefits for him. Best case, he had a mole in the White House. Worst case he leaves us a divided and chaotic nation with a destabilized presidency.

I think it is safe to assume that he has enjoyed some of both no matter what happens. He has benefited from having an ally in the White House and he must be thrilled with how chaotic things are right now.
