Boycott Nestle, Says Petition After Company Outbids Town For Water

A Nestlé spokesman said the company didn't know it was competing with a municipality, but it nevertheless matched their offer to complete the purchase from the Middlebrook Water Company for "future business growth."

"In the middle of a severe drought in southern Ontario, bottled water giant Nestlé continues to extract four million litres of groundwater every day from an aquifer near Guelph," the declaration says.

"Nestlé pays less than $15 per day for this precious resource and then ships it out of the community in hundreds of millions of single use plastic bottles for sale all over North America — at an astronomical mark up."

The group is asking people who support the boycott to sign an online declaration that aims to stop Nestlé from profiting from bottled water.

Florida, under....Bush????? gave Nestle drawing rights to its huge aquifer years ago. For pennies.

Nestle' is YUUUUGE.

having to do with baby formula in Africa if i recall.
They have always been one of the really bad guys to us, so no problem.
I always look at the label to check parent companies. Nestle is one I always put back.

I don't know if there is some sort of law, perhaps in the eminent domain realm, that can be used here but one needs to be passed if necessary.

And they're made by Nestle. It's damn near impossible to participate in a boycott with finicky cats in the home.

11. I have successfully switched cats by a sneaky move..

3 ways to try:

1. Get a quality dry food. Put a handful ( try to give same amount each time) of Friskies, small enough amount so they will be slightly hungry afterwards.
and add 3 pieces of the new kibble.
Next feeding, add 4 pieces, removing 4 pieces of the Friskies. Etc.....

2. Do they like nutritional yeast? My cats and dog love it. So I sprinkle it on their food ( bout a teaspoon per feeding.
Do same with your feeding, if they like it, eventually they will eat their new kibble right along with the yeast.

3. One of my cats would eat anything if a bit of canned fish was added. Just enough to give it smell of fish.

One of my cats got spoiled by being fed only canned cat food, we had to change him over to our method, so I did the bait and switch thing, adding a piece of dry one day, 2 the next, etc. and for a long time just a sprinkle of canned food juice. Took awhile but it worked.

Yes, they have one in my area.

2. No, I do not have nutritional yeast; in fact, I never even heard of nutritional yeast.

3. I tried some organic cat food I got from the animal food bank on my cats, but they didn't like it. Finicky rotten cats!

BTW, my cats are 10 and 8 1/2, respectively. I think it's hard to teach an old cat new tricks.

Yes they were cranky for a few days, but when left with nothing else to eat you'd be surprised how fast hunger will change their minds.

The second time I changed their food it was exponentially easier because they love the new brand.
