One question...haven't been able to find out...

TANF has a lifetime maximum of 60 months.

What happens if you are still out of work and shit out of luck and you've used up your 60 months?

I know... "You're fucked." But does somebody actually know what's happening to those folks who ran out of TANF?

1. I don't know how it is everywhere, but in the west it takes an act of Congress

personally delivered by the Pope just to get on and then the actual amount isn't enough to even subsist without several other programs for which you may or may not qualify.

Reagan/41 made people poor in record numbers and Clinton gave them a nice fuck you bonus on top of it.

2. TANF Is A Joke. All It Is Is A Harassment Program.

I started my professional career as an Employment Specialist with what was called the Work Incentive Program. TANF replaced that excellent program. I worked with welfare clients for six years until a layoff by Reagan in 1981. I was demoted to a clerk for 5 months before I got my old classification back.

Anyway we had a lot of tools when I worked it. We could write fully paid public service employment contracts for up to 1 year. We could write limited term OJT contracts with employers where we paid all the salary for up to 6 months. We could fix cars. We paid day care. We had counselors who arranged for school and we paid for schools. We had financial support for up to 90 days until the welfare recipient could become independent. Reagan and eventually Clinton destroyed all that.

We were part of the National Employment Service started in 1936. Reagan destroyed our agency completely.

I was able to buy out my retirement and leave because I knew I would be fired for refusing to work the TANF terrorist program. I left the agency just a few months before we were to be turned over to county supervision even though we were state civil service. I would have had a county supervisor making half as much as me. Roy Romer our Dem governor asshole betrayed us.

All TANF is is harassment to take any job. TANF scrapped the idea of helping welfare clients get a living wage job. Now women and children are forced to get any job or they lose their meager benefits. Men cannot be on the program. Single people cannot be on it. And after 5 years you are perfectly screwed because that is a LIFETIME limit as you stated. Most likely those people are homeless.

Believe it or not there are a lot of people who are essentially not employable for various reasons.
