bastards! Did they hit this poor donkey on purpose?!DID Google run over a donkey in Botswana?
That's certainly what its Google Street view cameras seem to suggest.
Twitter user @TheRealSheldonC tweeted a picture yesterday of a donkey - presumably dead - lying on the road in Botswana.
The Google Maps image reveals a puff of dust flying up from the injured donkey, suggesting that the image must have captured the donkey as it was falling rather than just lying on the road.

Further evidence - when you zoom past the donkey, you will find it standing by the road, uninjured.
Commentators claim it is possible that the Google Street View car ran over the donkey and the shot of it lying on the roadside was captured by the rear-facing camera.
Google sent News.com.au internal Street View images but did not give permission for them to be published.
In the photos, the company allege that the Google Street View car approached the donkey which was already lying down, which then gets up and continues walking uninjured.
The problem with this version of events is that - based on the images - it appears as though the donkey is walking backwards.

(15,189 posts)There are a few pictures there. I think the donkey is just rolling in the dirt. One picture doesn't look like the donkey was injured on the ground. Besides, he would have caused damage to the car taking the photos. But I guess we'll never be sure. He could have only been injured and ran away. Also, couldn't there have been 2 donkeys.

(39,665 posts)That puff of dust halfway between the animal and the camera is the clincher. That was shot out the back of their lorry after they hit the critter. It's having a roll in their tire track with a broken spine.

(34,845 posts)They deliberately murdered a donkey to, oh, I don't know, send a statement to the world about how powerful an organization they are?

(10,201 posts)If the google vehicle hit the donckey. So what? Yes, I do feel bad for the poor animal, but at the end of the day... So what?
Animal are struck every single day, all over the world, by a good sized chunk of us. I personally have hit 2 squirrels, 2 deer (1 died and the other one was fu**ing pissed), one groundhog, and one rabbit. Does this make me out to be an evil sicopath? No... It means I drive in the country a lot and accidents happen.
Think about it. How many roads has google mapped? How many hundreds of thousands of miles have the covered? What are the odds that sooner of later they would hit a deer or mule or whatever? You honestly thing this was done on purpose?
