A Platner campaign official fires back at @MaineDems, telling NBC News: The Platner campaign has reached out to the party to try and understand what this process would look like. At no point has the campaign tried to put its finger on the scale. Over 150,000 Mainers voted for this movement, and over 15,000 Mainers volunteered their time and energy to it. While Graham wouldn't want to be a part of the process, he would want to make sure the voters and volunteers make this decision not the political establishment.

How will HE make sure if he's not part of the process?
Do the right thing. DROP OUT.

(2,699 posts)The primary guy that is pushing to keep a hand in the selection of the new candidate is the guy who found Platner - his 27 year old college dropout campaign manager (or consultant?) who wants to ensure that his progressive agenda is adopted by the new candidate. I would imagine that both Platner and his twerp manager view this nomination as their chance at the big time, and they may not go easily.
Platner strikes me as the political equivalent of a boy band - a mediocre talent put together and controlled by outsiders to fool the audience that hes the real deal. It worked until it didnt.

(7,246 posts)But apparently, there's enough there to conclude that this is serious and it needs to be addressed.
And while it may be unfair, a double standard for sure when it comes to Republicans and this kind of behavior, especially the President, it's not going to be credible unless he steps down and gets out of the way. Otherwise, it becomes a sacrifice of a senate seat we can't afford to lose.
