Susan Collins crushed Bellows by 37 points for US Senate in 2014. Pass. Next. Celerity 4 hrs ago #9
It was a red wave election. RandySF 4 hrs ago #10
A 37 point loss in a Maine US Senate general is beyond just chalking it off to the red wave in terms of that margin. Celerity 4 hrs ago #11

She would of course be an improvement over the incumbent. I honestly don't know who can run a winning campaign now.

I don’t know how she would fare in second district. But it would be interesting in that she kept Trump off ballot as convicted felon until court overturned her. Then she and her family had to flee her home because of Trump threats I’d pay to Collins defend Trump over that.

Gonna take their ball and go home because their choice ended up being a serial rapist?

You suggested Platners supporters wouldn't support the replacement.

Why wouldn't they?

Some people care about issues like the environment. Some Medicare For All. Some justice. Some get excited and are moved to canvas and volunteer. Others are tired and working three jobs and won’t make it to the polls if they aren’t feeling enthusiasm for a candidate.

How do I know who will or won’t support a different candidate. Platner won by a very large margin. It’s not rocket science.

Progressive policies were behind Platners success. It would be foolish to deny that.

What Maine does is up to them. I sample said there was a reason Platner was generating enthusiasm and it would be smart to keep it. To imply progressives won’t vote if someone e isn’t a rapist is pure bullshit. And certainly not what I said.

Or a cult of personality?

If progressives were willing to overlook all of the issues with Platner I dont see how they can make a case for anyone else not being good enough.
