We hear it every election.
Focus on the economy. Don't go negative. Be centrist. Talk about solutions to America's and Americans' problems. Smile a lot. Don't worry, people will vote for you.
George Conway has a different idea. Run for Senate on the promise of impeaching the fuckwad.
I think he's on to something.
Many people see that a lot of our problems are caused by the present administration. Many people can't believe that not a single person has been prosecuted for the epstein files and that a child rapist is in charge of our country. Many people know that getting rid of him is extremely important to our country on so may fronts - not just the economy but so many other things.. May people are just SOOOO sick and tired of this, we'd do just about anything to get rid of him.
to be clear. it's not just about impeaching him because we don't like him. when we get into the WHY he needs to be impeached, all the issues come out. the economy.. our democracy.. the environment.. equal rights. ALL the issues.
so, why not focus on the primary target that is causing all these problems first?
It seems George Conway agrees. And I think he's on to something.
If you haven't seen his new ads over the last few weeks announcing his candidacy and flatly saying that when he gets elected they are going to impeach trump and put him in jail, check them out.
I'll say this. anyone running for any office that promises to impeach the president has my vote. and I think i'm not the only one.

(64,907 posts)It is set up so that the House mimics a grand jury and the Senate holds a "trial." Those are the legal trappings.
But make no mistake, it is a political act and partisan politics is why there has never been a successful one. A Nixon impeachment might have succeeded, there appeared to be significant support among Republican senators for removal. In that respect, it is unfortunate that Nixon resigned before the Congress went forward with it.
The founding fathers made impeachment hard for a reason, but it seems that maybe they made it too hard. I think it would be a much different country if at some time a President had been removed from office via impeachment.

(7,066 posts)It used to be that simply getting impeached would probably end a person's political future. Not so with Trump.

i suggest we impeach him over war powers, doge, ice, no bid contracts, emoluments . impeach him every day until the repub senators have had enough and join us.
if we wait until 2029 , and prosecute him, his super power of judicial delay will make these the longest, most expensive, and probably least successful trials ever.
if he is not impeached, and disqualified, he will either run again and win, or merely decare the usual bullshit about election fraud stay in office.

(3,696 posts)You also need to get into why bother when impeachment is pointless Senate Republicans would never vote to convict.
Democrats will be accused of wasting time and resources on a pointless process.
