I Hate Politics, But I Have One Thing To Say About Maine

The leaders of the Democratic party need to ask themselves, why Maine voted for Platner and did not vote for the incumbent.

As I said, I hate politics, I believe the people should pick the candidate, this may or may not happen now in Maine, and that is understandable.

If the Party picks the candidate wouldn't it make sense to pick the person who is closest to the platform that Platner ran on?

Just asking.

People want anti-establishment candidates

How do the established parties thread that needle?

It is what makes Trump so powerful.

He has somehow positioned himself as an anti-establishment politician and is pushing the establishment GOP around like toys because of his voter loyalty

jump in and stir shit up for Trump the way that Platner has? We want experience, yes, but they better be ready to lash out at the status quo on both sides.

Because the voters in the primary were willing to overlook a lot of red flags on groups like women, LGBT+, blacks, and people with special needs in favor of a guy telling them he will make their lives better.

The question that should be asked is how do we as a society get past being willing to toss out disadvantaged groups when it's convenient.

that leadership would want a substitute that is closest to Platner's vision/message/platform in order to keep the electorate engaged and motivated. Sadly, I expect they'll go for the established triangulation candidate, and a lot of the energy will dissipate.

However, the status quo is what got us here. Once someone gets elected they either conform or are attacked both inside and outside the party unless they are resilient enough in their convictions to weather the storm - AOC being a good example.

IMO, the last 50 years we have clearly seen a decline in America almost all by the policies of the GOP with endless wars, culture wars, and now open racism.

When I think back to our 200th celebration of America in 1976 compared to our 250th...the change is so bad that it is frightening. WE CANNOT ALLOW THIS TO CONTINUE ☮
