a lot of ppl can look good for a few mos.
Everything about this guy was available, expect the rape, which anyone should have foreseen was coming.
Anyone saying they are surprised was just willfully blind.

(61,283 posts)No one can say that red flags weren't raised. Early on, the posts and the Nazi tattoo were exposed. Even things like his privileged background that was at odds with his narrative would have destroyed most candidates.
All I can think of was that defined by his words he came to embody what many Maine Democrats were looking for. ( One take away is that his message, likely crafted by others, was powerful.)

(131,969 posts)Anybody remember John Edwards? Fathered a child with his mistress while his wife was dying of cancer and while running for the presidential nomination. Then there was Eric Swalwell, who has apparently been a horndog ever since he got into politics. And of course the hypocritical, moralistic GOPers have never been able to keep their dicks in their pants (I'm talking to you, Newt Gingrich). Why aren't these guys caught out before they run for office and get people to work for them and donate money and start thinking they'd actually be good representatives and public servants?
That's a rhetorical question, BTW. The reason is the same as it's always been: women are fair game and boys will be boys.
