Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina made soccer "the beautiful game" in decades past.

But he’s a top level athlete. If they let him play, he has to play. I don’t blame him for that.

But they shouldn’t have let him play.

Was he required to play if FIFA removes the red card? Or did his team feel they "had" to play him to have any hope of winning?

Because to my mind, the only way the team could fight back against Trump's interference -- in a way that would maintain their integrity to the rest of the world -- would have been to keep that player off the field. Now, they are forever saddled with that appearance of favoritism and corruption. Even if it wasn't their fault this happened, they still allowed the perception of impropriety to persist.

I rooted for Belgium. Their loss was the only graceful way out.

this player, and his coaches, know the rules.

sportsmanship requires everyone shake hands and tell the other guys "good game."

are the back up players so much worse than this guy? even so. it is a game.

It was a busy shopping area, in the evening.
There was a tall young man with a friend standing against a wall in front of the Apple store, they were people watching.
As I walked past, I heard him say to his friend (in I believe a French accent), "Stupid Americans."

So, it's been going on for some time.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump bets on a certain team/country and calls Infantino to make sure it happens.
