The good news is Cornyn is out! The bad news is that a MAGA Cult prick is the nominee for the GOBer seat!
Trumped back Paxton is the nominee. The mini corrupt Republican Trump lookalike is as bad Trump. Corrupted through and through, Paxton has been divorced because of his infidelity affair, he has been a crooked politician and his love for Trump is his game!
Now Paxton has to face Democrat nominee, Talarico in November to win the US Senate seat.
Cornyn was a lame excuse, but Paxton is worse. We all need to behind Talarico. It will be a hard election to pull off this.
Paxton is 10x worse than Cornyn and that is why Trump is pushing for Paxton.
Not a whole lot to say but lets help get Talarico to the finish line! Everything is a stake and it will cost us dearly if Paxton should come out as the winner.
Paxton must be beaten! Period, end of story!

(1,083 posts)...and choosing the darkness of another deeply corrupt politician to send to Washington.
There are no more excuses for backing corrupt politicians. When given the choice the Republican party now lusts to put the most corrupt and vile people they can find into power despite knowing where that leads--or probably because of it.
President [REDACTED], Paxton, and all of the other horrible people we see taking over control of our government are just a symptom of the depravity of one of the two major political parties in the America of the 2020s.
THAT is what we are up against--and it isn't going away any time soon....

(4,187 posts)Democratic nominee. Not Democrat nominee. Using the noun as an adjective is a perjorative because Republicans don't like a word whose double meaning has positive connotations. Though, that's why we got the name in the first place.
Not every use of this is trying to insult--it is a lack of education and poor grammar skills in some cases. But the fact that this usage arrived in the last decade and didn't happen before that means to me that it is intentional.

(90,952 posts)I dont know why theyve embraced the word Democrat as an adjective instead of the noun that it is. Other than either being ignorant, or intentionally insulting or belittling (well call you what WE FEEL LIKE calling you).
Its a proper noun, as I remember being taught in school, long ago. Those nuns would accept no substitute.
OMGWTF
(5,227 posts)In the 1980's the idea was to emphasize the "rat" part of the word. I always remind people that there is no such thing as the "Democrat" party and that they mean 'Democratic' party. I see plenty of Dems making this mistake because it's everywhere, but it's still wrong. I call today's Republican party the "Rethuglican" party because they have become a gang of lying, thieving, murdering, raping, monstrous thugs who violate their Oath of Office every damn day.

(42,533 posts)Paxton has some awful baggage - he's totally corrupt, and his nose is up Chump's butt - the people of Texas deserve better. Now is the time for everyone to pull together and send James Talarico to Washington.
Come on Texas Democrats, you can win this!

At least Cornyn had that old southern gentleman thing going for him, thin veneer that it was. It was enough to inspire stupid people. The main hope Texas has is that they look at Paxton, yawn, and stay home on election day.

(9,970 posts)That fact needs to be hammered home by the Talarico campaign, and ALL democratic campaigns across the country. This is trump's specialty: pardoning criminals and loving pedophiles.

(14,909 posts)But I would note that Talarico got more Primary votes than cornyn or paxton got in primary or runoff.
And that Crockett also got more primary votes than cornyn or paxton.
And that Crockett and Talarico together got almost half a million more votes than C&P together in the primary. Democrats got about 150k more than Republicans, all added up.

I can't wait to see a debate between Paxton and Talarico. I wonder if Paxton will agree to one?

(15,485 posts)Cornyn is a garden variety sell out republican who is full on board Magasanity, who went out of line a handful of times.
Paxton is a full on corrupt lunatic - his own GOP impeached him! How bad does one of them have to be for that too happen.
To see how big win his win was is very sobering for the state of this country.
