But with House and Senate closed will trump appoint someone real quick that couldn't get confirmed otherwise?

(10,321 posts)I've walked in those shoes. My husband is a cancer survivor. Everything else takes a back seat when a serious illness like that happens. Best wishes for a full & speedy recovery for him, & Tulsi can find something else to do with her life.

The safe factor with the current Republican Party in charged is -0-.

If we have learned one thing from 5+ years of Dotard presidenting, it can always be made worse.

Granted, Tulsi was horrible and her sympathies (at the very least) were with Russia

* F47 has a limited window to finish consolidating power before an uncertain outcome hinders his cabinet picks, and now he can knock one off the list
* whoever takes over is almost guaranteed to be worse and will be expected to oversee unusually evil operations on behalf of the new imperial owning class.

(25,717 posts)Fascinating if true, but uncharacteristic of the regime. Could be the pain reinforcement learning talking, but I wish I had a dollar for every time someone said it can't possibly get worse right before it got much worse.
Rather than asking whether a given situation could deteriorate further, I have become accustomed to asking how it will get even worse. What seems likely to me is that the deminishment of the USA's leadership role in global affairs is wrapping up, with Russia already meeting many of its long-term goals. The next phase must be devoted to intense concentration of capital among a global elite -- these are debts which must be paid by those currently wielding the nation's power.

(10,458 posts)You can be assured that the US currently has ZERO secrets that haven't been shared with Russia. A replacement can be just as bad, but it is impossible to be worse. The average American has no idea how harmful her being in that position was. Our entire intelligence operation was surely compromised. We will continue to see the repercussions for years and possibly decades.
