My own brain is reeling under outrage fatigue like most these days. But : 1) I really feel for these women who are truly screwed over by any standard and 2) logically this is kind of a line in the sand.

They are going to bring back child marriage at this rate. I don’t even care often about a lot of the bs that causes firestorms of phony internet outrage I saw over the years which I actually directly tie to the loss of a kind of sensitivity in the collective zeitgeist where constant outrage about bullshit is leading to this sort of yawning normalization of truly vile behavior like this.

That I have no idea about. But she may have raised it now out of alarm at a specific story I saw this March that shocked even my weary brain. If that story is pursued, I don’t see how Trump can weather it.

The accuser seems like a generally truthful person. And it is hard for survivors like that to have their wits about them and to give consistent accounts.

In her account about Trump, she claimed that he forced her to commit a sex act on him sometime around 1984. But she provided foggy details to FBI agents, including that the alleged encounter with Trump happened when she traveled north to New York or New Jersey with Epstein, who was a fixture in elite society then. Decades before he sought the presidency, Trump had already become a prominent presence in the New York business and social scenes.

Extortion and stolen funds
At one point, her mother became aware that Epstein had nude photos of the teen from their sexual encounters and was demanding money to keep them hidden, the woman told the FBI. The victim said she had seen the photographs in his bedstand, leading to a violent encounter when he discovered her snooping.

She said his extortion demand caused her mother to steal funds from her real estate company.

A truly shameful story. (I am trying to adhere to the 3 paras rule having seen “yeller” disciplined over it . Its silly..a troll.)

But the whole thing gives one a picture that made a deeper impression on me than the other stories and unfortunately I think about shit like this a lot. And sometimes try not to, which was why I was trying to stay offline.
