Country star Ray Stevens, 87, breaks neck after serious fall in Nashville

Legendary country singer Ray Stevens is on the mend after suffering a broken neck in a serious fall late last month.

According to a press release obtained by Fox News Digital, the 87-year-old two-time Grammy Award winner was taken to the hospital following his fall on Sunday, March 29.

Stevens will wear a neck brace for "approximately four weeks" per the advice of his doctors.

"Despite the injury, he remains fully mobile and in good spirits as he continues his recovery," the press release added.

Fracture of a spinous process is generally not considered to be a severe fracture. He could have cracked a vertebrae also. There are numerous types of fractures. A cracked bone is considered a fracture. (The least serious fracture)

My dad had a car fall on his neck. He didn't do anything about it. After a few weeks or even months later, he finally went to the doctor and they told him that he broke his neck.

He suffered from pain and eventually tingling in his hands for the rest of his life and that was likely due to his delay in seeking treatment. If he had gone earlier they at least could have put his neck in traction. But the time he sought treatment, the fracture was already healed.

aunt broke her neck years ago and remained fully mobile. My rheumatologist broke her neck several years ago crevice climbing (I don’t understand why people take a chance) and she never lost mobility. After that, I decided she is one of those thrill seekers. I think her husband divorced her after that because she refused to quit climbing and taking chances.

They took a bus tour through the streets where the country stars lived. At one point the tour guide said, "We will drive past this home and onto the next one."

It turned out the house they skipped was Ray Steven's. The tour guide said sometimes he yells at the bus to leave him alone. He wants his privacy.

My brother and I said, "You mean the guy that made all the funny records. My dad said, "Yep. He must not be very funny in real life."

Barely slowed him down. They were the lower "false" ribs and just cracked - they weren't displaced.
