Last Words

It's never too early to plan your last words.

Recent events have brought epitaphs to mind. I am not sure "oops" or "shit" would fully capture my essence.

If things go really bad there may not be anyone to hear or remember whatever pearls of wisdom I end up spitting out.

But that has always been a possibility.

Neither of my parents exited life with a witty saying. Is that one of life's purposes anyway?

As I stare at the doomsday clock ticking down, a lot of the promises and rules of the world seem less important than originally proposed.

I have joined few groups and have shortly left those I did.

My rules were don't lie, don't promise what you can't deliver, and don't hurt people.

The first and third rules frequently conflicted.

I guess that will have to do.

1. When my Mother found out she had terminal cancer

She said "Well, I won't have to go to the Dentist then."

2. I am hoping not to have a chance to utter last words.

I am hoping if the worst happens, it will be when I am sleeping, and unaware of it. I have been praying to God every night that if a nuclear bomb were to hit here, that I won't survive it.

Maybe then the last thing I will have said, will be, "I love you, Dakota. You're a good boy. Goodnight." Not such a bad end note.

6. Back in the 80s

A former Pentagon official gave a talk at our Community College. He said because of being in the vicinity of the Niagara power plant and Rome Army Depot, our odds of surviving were not good, which he told us would be a blessing in disguise. Rome Army Depot has been decommissioned though, so not certain anymore.

4. I was wondering this about the Artemis astronauts...

What it must be like to say goodbye to your family in their situation. "See you in about 10 days, bye" ?

After the Challenger explosion they know this could happen. Every time I fly I think about the plane crashing. I know it's unlikely and it doesn't stop me from flying but it does cross my mind for a fleeting moment.

I can only imagine the families farewells. It's scary as shit.
