Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI learned today what a madman Hegseth is...
NPR did a show today about Hegseth and I caught part of it.
Hegseth has christian-crusades tats, a lot of them. He is an extremist RW religious nut.
He has fired many military chaplains, they were not extreme enough for him.
He has said stuff like, "the military is fighting for Jesus."
Ahhh....hey you fool. No! What the hell is that?
Anyway, I have ignored him for the most part until today. He is a lunatic!

(3,914 posts). . . who believe "The 19th Amendment was a mistake." Women should not vote. These people believe in and preach "family voting." The man is the head of the household. He directs the family how to vote.
Read all about it here:
https://www.democracydocket.com/analysis/the-19th-amendment-was-a-bad-idea-the-far-rights-wish-list-for-extreme-voter-suppression/
But to some far-right Christian influencers, thats small potatoes.
Theyre pushing for even harsher voting restrictions. Among them: revoking womens right to vote, instituting family voting, and only allowing property owners the right to vote.
These ideas havent made it into legislation yet. But theyre growing in popularity among far-right Christian nationalists, many of whom are motivated by a belief that women should have no role at all in public affairs.
Kai Schwemmer an influential conservative influencer who was recently appointed as political director for the College Republicans of America said in an online debate last year that women shouldnt be able to vote, according to The Guardian.
. . .
In August 2025, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reposted a CNN interview with Doug Wilson, Hegseths Christian nationalist pastor, who doesnt believe women should vote.
Women are the kind of people that people come out of, Wilson told CNN. The wife and mother, who is the chief executive of the home, is entrusted with three or four or five eternal souls.
These people are for real. They are organized. They have lots of money. Trump loves them. He issues executive orders or members of his cabinet make decisions to support these people. This is not a joke.

These RW Dominionists will have us all living in our own version of Iran by the next election if we don't take proper precautions, electorally. Theocracy, here we come! /snark

(180,171 posts)Hegseth is a religious nut case and trump appears to be buying the concept that he is chosen by G-d. These idiots are dangerous and Iran is going to use their fervor against them
According to two former diplomats, the injection of religious fervor by Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth into the Iran war is a gift to the mullahs of the embattled country that will only make things worse.
— Raw Story (@rawstory.com) 2026-04-07T18:21:07Z
https://www.rawstory.com/trump-religious-war/
On MS NOWs Morning Joe contributor Sam Stein noted that Hegseth made a strained comparison between a downed US airman emerging from a cave to be saved and Jesus over the Easter weekend, which has the effect of making the US attacks less about Middle Eastern geopolitics and more like a Christian crusade.
Speaking with former National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Stein asked, When you frame war in matters of theology, when you have the president mocking Islam in his tweets or Truth Social posts, how does that play with the leadership in Iran? How will they view this war? When you have the defense secretary talking like that?
Well, it does two things, Sullivan began. First, in a way, it plays into their hands because these guys are theocrats themselves. And so the idea of having a holy war against the Great Satan, the United States and the Little Satan, Israel, is core to their identity and core to their argument, to their own people who they were just mowing down. You got to back us in this holy war. So it really plays on the turf of the Iranian mullahs and clerics.
