Rep. Tim Burchett says a member of our government has told him extraterrestrial beings have visited our planet, traveling on an otherworldly craft ... and made contact with humans!!!
The Congressman from Tennessee joined us on "TMZ Live" Monday and we asked him about aliens ... and he didn't hold back.
Rep. Burchett says he's had multiple government and military officials tell him extraterrestrials exist ... it sounds out there, but he insists it's true.
Don't go running for the hills ... Rep. Burchett says there doesn't appear to be any danger to human life. After all, he says their technology is so advanced and so far beyond our comprehension that these life forms could have wiped us out long ago ... and we're still here.

(3,726 posts)Aliens "having existed/existing" is a vastly, utterly different question from whether they've "visited planet Earth". Yes, "aliens" have most certainly existed, at various times, elsewhere in the universe. The laws of physics obviously allow for intelligent life to evolve, therefore if it happened on our one planet, it will also have done so elsewhere.
I could imagine some small chance that a "ship" might someday arrive, but it won't contain living beings. Simply put, everywhere else is too far away, and the timing of their civilization would have to perfectly coincide with ours, such that they arrive in the impossibly slim sliver of geological time when we're here, looking for them. The same laws of physics will mean that any "aliens" will have finite lifespans, and those will not be the many thousands of years it would take to travel to Earth from, like, even the closest star to our own Sun, Proxima Centauri, which is 24,900,000,000,000 miles away.
No idea what you think has been "observed in recent years"
Polybius
(21,925 posts)All of that confirms multiple encounters with UAP's that dont have clear, conventional explanations. This includes the Navys acknowledgment of the 2004 Nimitz Tic Tac incident and similar encounters off the East Coast in 2015, where objects appeared to move at extreme speeds, change direction instantly, and even travel between air and water, all observed by trained fighter pilots and captured on radar and infrared systems. Those are just two of many examples.
Another particular incident describes a missile being fired at a UAP, only for it to bounce off.
These cases arent coming from random kooks who told stories of abduction stories like you may have seen in the 80s. Theyre being reported by active-duty military pilots. Highly trained professionals with security clearances who documented what they saw in real time, supported by multiple forms of sensor data, including radar, infrared, and direct visual observation.
Congress has since held hearings on the issue, and the Pentagon even created the AARO office to investigate further. Whatever the explanation turns out to be, this is no longer fringe speculation, its a set of documented incidents backed by credible sources and multiple systems of verification. It's only a matter of time before the big stuff is declassified.

Literally speaking, it does not logically imply aliens are visiting us.
It implies an "unknown."
I like what Neil DeGrasse Tyson said on the subject. I paraphrase, "Everyone today has a supercomputer with a built-in camera in their pocket. So, why can't we obtain a clear picture of something--anything--that implies that extraterrestrials are actually visiting us?"
It seems far more likely to me that there are other explanations yet to be discovered than the "visitors" theory.
But, if we were actually being visited, I'd be first in line to take a ride. (I want to believe!)

(21,925 posts)I love Tyson, but he should be smart enough to know that iPhone and Android phones are not good for taking long distance pictures at rapid speeds, especially when trying to do it within seconds. Try taking a picture of an airliner, it's not great even at low speeds (low compared to military jets and UAPs). So while his analogy would work with sasquatch or yeti, it doesn't apply to high-speed UAPs.
To capture one very clearly, we would need a DSLR with a telescopic lens (or maybe a mirrorless like the Nikon COOLPIX P1100) camera with a tripod, which very few would have on hand.

(2,193 posts)Tyson was, of course, referring to "close encounters." He was refuting that aliens want to abduct us and give us anal probes.
I'm not a practicing scientist either. I just believe in logic, science, and mathematics. That doesn't mean believing everything a "scientist" has to say.
Historically speaking, science gets it wrong for many years, until they get it right.
The probability that we are being visited is ridiculously small (such as due to the Drake equation).
I think most UAPs that fly that fast look that way because of angular factors such as relative motion, parallax, and errors in measurement.
In every case, it is far more likely that there are errors not seen and accounted for (e.g., unknown unknowns) than the possibility that we are being visited.
If we are being visited, I say, "Come and get me. I'm ready. I'll even bring the lube."

(900 posts)Where is the video of THAT? We have some things that pilots have said, but those claims don't match the videos we have. The videos we have from those incidents are basically just fuzzy dots. The pilots that shot the videos we have are not the same ones that have publically talked about it.
So when these incidents are discussed, we end up stitching together these fairly unremarkable videos with fantastic claims, using each to validate the other, when it is not clear they even go together at all.
Sure, but that doesn't mean they are completely infallible, or that we should jump to the conclusion that these must be aliens. We just need more than what we have so far.
Polybius
(21,925 posts)While I have no knowledge of cameras military jets use, a lot were from 2004 (and around that time), which for some reason was deemed classified under Bush. Oddly enough, Obama kept them classified too. For what reason was this? Also, there are many top pilots that didn't capture them and claim to have seen UAPs frequently.
I agree with you 100%. I'm sure there's a possibility that some (or even all) of these aren't aliens at at all. I should not have implied that I definitely believe they are aliens, and I apologize for that. I have thought about the chance of them being something else, such as:
1: Other super-classified US military aircraft. A regular Navi pilot would not know about new classified designs. This is what happened in the early 80s with the stealth bombers. They thought it was aliens lol.
2: Another country has super-secret, better tech than us. I sure hope that this isn't the reason. If it is, it's scarier than aliens!
3: A private citizen/mad scientist invented something that beats military technology. I find this extremely unlikely.
4: Something else. Anything I missed?
AZJonnie
(3,726 posts)Which is not the same thing as "aliens".
Frankly, I covered my points the last time we spoke on the topic. We're not being visited by any living aliens, I guarantee it. Could there be automated craft? MAAAAAYBE. But not actual aliens. That's not happening. It never has, and it never will. Simply put, other planets (not in our solar system) are just too far away. Organic life cannot possibly make the journey.
Polybius
(21,925 posts)It could be pilotless. If it were piloted by beings, how would they be able to solve the time problem? If they spend a year at the speed of light, they would come back to their home planet hundreds or thousands of years in the future. They would age in real time, but everything else would be sped up to them.
That I disagree with. None of us can be certain. Someone from 1750 might have said the same thing about airplane flight, or a person on the moon.

Does this mean they are an emerging intelligence?
I don't think so. They have them aimed at themselves.

SILLY ASSES
by Issac Asimov
1957 Columbia Publications, Inc.
Naron of the long-lived Rigellian race was the fourth of his line to keep the galactic records.
He had a large book which contained the list of the numerous races throughout the galaxies that had developed intelligence, and the much smaller book that listed those races that had reached maturity and had qualified for the Galactic Federation. In the first book, a number of those listed were crossed out; those that, for one reason or another, had failed. Misfortune, biochemical or biophysical shortcomings, social maladjustment took their toll. In the smaller book, however, no member listed had yet blanked out.
And now Naron, large and incredibly ancient, looked up as a messenger approached.
Naron, said the messenger. Great One!
Well, well, what is it? Less ceremony.
Another group of organisms has attained maturity.
Excellent. Excellent. They are coming up quickly now. Scarcely a year passes without a new one. And who are these?
The messenger gave the code number of the galaxy and the coordinates of the world within it.
Ah, yes, said Naron. I know the world. And in flowing script he noted it in the first book and transferred its name into the second, using, as was customary, the name by which the planet was known to the largest fraction of its populace. He wrote: Earth.
He said, These new creatures have set a record. No other group has passed from intelligence to maturity so quickly. No mistake, I hope.
None, sir, said the messenger.
They have attained to thermonuclear power, have they?
Yes, sir.
Well, thats the criterion. Naron chuckled. And soon their ships will probe out and contact the Federation.
Actually, Great One, said the messenger, reluctantly, the Observers tell us they have yet penetrated space.
Naron was astonished. Not at all? Not even a space station?
Not yet, sir.
But if they have thermonuclear power, where do they conduct the tests and detonations?
On their own planet, sir.
Naron rose to his full twenty feet of height and thundered, On their own planet?
Yes, sir.
Slowly Naron drew out his stylus and passed a line through the latest addition in the small book. It was an unprecedented act, but, then, Naron was very wise and could see the inevitable as well as anyone in the galaxy.
Silly asses, he muttered.

(15,418 posts)If they are advanced enough to be able to drag their civilization to the maturity point they can travel light-years with little risk, they're advanced enough to recognize what sort of trouble we human beings can be to other life forms. We're effective, self-absorbed little killing machines.
Mind control a few weak individuals who can be anticipated to reach wealth or positions of power into thinking they're Gods, and you can rather quickly get them to kill off enough of their fellow harmful, parasitic species members that it would be easy enough for the world to recover and become a viable, habitable planet for the rest of the inhabitant species.
And maybe a less aggravation dealing with the aggressively muscle headed "adults" who never had to grow up throwing destructive tantrums all over the galaxy because they aren't getting enough "respect" (or adulation).
