I thought it was odd in Neils revisit to the first book, he seemed to reach the conclusion that wed reached the crisis and were headed down the other side. I thought thats odd, because I still recognize this shit.
I tend to agree, I think the America 5 years from now will be something we just didnt see coming. Or at least thats what I hope because what I see coming is ugly as hell. Can we pull a rabbit out of our hat sometime soon?

(6,507 posts)thanks to monopolization of the mass media. If sanity ever returns to the USA, we must treat propaganda (and gullibility) as a disease, and take solid measures to control it The First Amendment cannot be used to protect virulent lies across the broad spectrum of mass media.

(24,224 posts)There are pockets of real news, but 80% is propaganda now. Even articles and segments critical of the administration are tempered with propaganda that gives every bit of leeway to Trump and his regime. Very few are calling his actions what they actually are most of the time.

(1,591 posts)The Soviet Union went out with a whimper but the collapse was extensive. Unfortunately, Russia did not restructure the political process as much as was necessary to complete a transition to democracy.
So far, the ongoing collapse of the American Empire has been gradual, but that could change to "all at once" at any moment. We're faced with the same problem as Russia, though. We need to reform the political process - the Constitution - to support a full democracy. Right now we're going in the opposite direction, but the collapse has not been completed.
