(16,465 posts)The idea was as a supposed follower of Christ I was suppose to love others. But now with that malignant mushroom in charge of our country I need a new better word even if I only use it inside my head.
Abhorrence would express both loathing with repugnance.

The same with the word "evil", a word I generally reserved for stories or horror movies, rarely in real life. Not anymore.

(272 posts)If and when applies, use it by all means. Personally I believe Trump dissevers all the hate people can throw at him.

(15,307 posts)I have to trust military folks who will 1. Know that could be their personal effects going to loved ones and 2. just see it as another responsibility of their existing job with benefits.
I don't trust the "any Jane or Joe" off the street that's not gone through a vetting process, training, and understands or cares what the recipients of those personal effects might be going through.
Not that there aren't scumbag thieves, drunks, or psychos in the military. But they're more likely to handle other people's effects with respect and responsibility than someone who is just looking for a better paying part time job than food service or a delivery gig.
Just my opinion.

I suspect a lot of these soldiers personal effects are going to be highly valued treasures to their loved ones. Hopefully those involved will recognize that.
Knew a guy who volunteered to play bagpipes at a veterans cemetery. Opposite me on the political spectrum but I always respected him for doing it. Would be good to see volunteers do this job. IMHO civilians can be very isolated from our service people.

(15,307 posts)How else are we getting foreign fighters to be our "boots on the ground" until we call up the National Guards and Reservists again.
Being as this is a much larger battlefield than Iraq was, I suspect we're also going to start drafting after the Midterms.
