(41,005 posts)What's led to him being arrested is information in the Epstein files around activities while he was a trade envoy.
Although we don't know specifics, there has to be an assumption that part of this is going to be the sharing of documents within the Epstein files - between Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein himself. That's when Thames Valley Police got involved.
But once you're investigating somebody for alleged misconduct in public office, it doesn't have to focus only on those emails which we've seen publicly in the Epstein files.
Firstly, there's three million documents in the files, so there may be some the media have missed. But secondly, Buckingham Palace said they would support Thames Valley Police in their inquiries.
This suggests maybe some kind of insider trading? I don't know, but they've definitely found something.

(41,005 posts)How would they get them, unless DoJ were the source?
But British/UK investigators can see other stuff that's not related to Epstein, like Andrew's computer, cellphone, emails, appointment calendars, regular snail mail, etc.

My understanding is that theres been a very significant development in the investigation into the Epstein files. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been arrested this morning on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
That goes back to documents from when he was a trade envoy, that are alleged to have been passed to Epstein.

"President Trump revealed "highly classified information" to two top Russian officials during a controversial Oval Office meeting last week, according to a report from The Washington Post.
The Post, citing current and former U.S. officials, reported Monday evening that the information relayed by the president to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak "jeopardized a critical source of intelligence" on ISIS:
"The partner had not given the United States permission to share the material with Russia, and officials said Trump's decision to do so endangers cooperation from an ally that has access to the inner workings of the Islamic State. After Trump's meeting, senior White House officials took steps to contain the damage, placing calls to the CIA and the National Security Agency.
" 'This is code-word information,' said a U.S. official familiar with the matter, using terminology that refers to one of the highest classification levels used by American spy agencies. Trump 'revealed more information to the Russian ambassador than we have shared with our own allies.' ".....(more)

Giuffre family: Mountbatten-Windsor arrest proves 'no one is above the law'
Virginia Giuffres family have this morning said in a statement that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsors arrest shows that no one is above the law.
Giuffre was one of the most prominent victims of the disgraced US financier Jeffrey Epstein who also alleged she had been sexually trafficked to Prince Andrew.
She took her own life in April 2025, aged 41.
The statement reads:
At last, today our broken hearts have been lifted with the news that no one is above the law not even royalty.
On behalf of our sister, we extend our gratitude to the UKs Thames Valley Police in their investigation and arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
He was never a prince. For survivors everywhere, Virginia did this for you.

I have submitted a five-page memorandum to the Metropolitan, Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley and other relevant UK police constabularies.
This memorandum provides new and additional information to that which I submitted last week to the Met, Essex and Thames Valley police forces where I expressed my concern that we secure justice for trafficked girls and women.

(41,005 posts).... mainly because her lawsuit was settled and she was paid the full amount that was quietly negotiated. So ... that case is closed. I haven't read through all 3 million+ Epstein documents out there, however I'm not aware of Andrew diddling anyone else besides Virginia. I mean he probably was and is a serial cheater, but Epstein only set him up with Virginia as far as we know. It wasn't a different girl every week.
So the UK authorities don't have any reason to look further into Giuffre. They've got much bigger problems on the horizon. Andrew traveled all over the world participating in trade talks, hearing about corporate mergers, etc. That was his job as a British Royal. But instead of keeping the information confidential for the British government, he leaked, sold or gave away trade secrets to Jeffrey Epstein and possibly others. We can only guess (at this point) that Epstein used the information to make $ millions on timely stock trades, getting the jump on every one else. That's usually why people participate in insider trading, to get the jump. I'm guessing that Epstein's brother Mark can maybe tell us a little about this, from Jeffrey's point of view.

(238 posts)A panel from UN Human Rights Council bold
Declared in a tone stern and cold,
No tycoon nor grand czar
Gets to outrun the law
No matter how gilded their gold.
Yet that maxim, so boldly professed,
Finds reality somewhat hard-pressed;
Like all are born free,
It sounds fineQ.E.D.?
But proof lags behind the request.
On PBS NewsHour came a post late at night
That set many brows furrowing tight:
Experts said crimes
Crossed humanitys lines
Not mere rumor, but grave legal plight.
The report, to the DOJs surprise,
Met the FBIs old cries
With a skeptical stare:
Theres large-scale abuse there
And trafficking writ large in the files.
They warned, Do not say Let it pass,
Or sweep shards of the truth with the glass;
Resignations wont do,
When accountabilitys due
Courts must act, not just issue a mass.
From a letter in twenty-twentys gloom,
Sent to U.S. Attorneys Office for the SDNYs room,
Came allegations stark,
Of abuse in the dark
Nine pages of horror and doom.
Then a headline made royalists wince:
Arrested: Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, once prince.
Trade reports, its alleged,
To Jeffrey Epstein he pledged
Confidential memos sent since.
Said Thames Valley Police with care,
Were investigating whats there;
Public interest is keen,
Well report what we glean
But for now, we proceed aware.
Some asked why conspiracists stall,
Why no victory laps at it all;
They foresaw partisan sin,
But the net gathered in
A well-heeled, well-connected cabal.
So were left with a republics test:
Can the mighty be made to confess?
If wealth shields the few,
Then the old promise rings untrue
And justice remains just a guess.
