Twilight Zone: The Obsolete Man

On Facebook, there is a Twilight Zone group that highlights various episodes. Today they started a thread on The Obsolete Man.

For those who don't know, this is an episode set in an authoritarian time. Burgess Meridith plays a librarian named Wordsworth, pronounced obsolete by the chancellor, played by Fritz Weaver who announced a death sentence for Wordsworth.

Lots of discussion about this one. Many drawing a link to Amerika 2026. There are a few that want political discussion to stop. Rod Serling himself fought in World War II, and knew all too well what authoritarians do. I would assume he wanted to get the message out on the horrors of dictatorship and authoritarian society. This discussion is exactly what Rod Serling would have wanted.
